@Cerberus Yeah, maybe because they're most vulnerable to instability and can't afford to develop "higher" concerns to risk their livelihood for. Mostly. I suspect even those who were driven to join ISIS by religious fervor (and not financial enticement etc) mostly belonged to the middle class or higher. And I liked the "conservative and less religious" bit.

Is there a text that I can read, as a native English speaking adult, that'll teach me gramma in a way that doesn't belittle me, or take 500 pages? Mainly I feel that I don't know how to use commas appropriately, and this may impact my ability to write good academic papers.

Reading random resources that I find online leaves me wishing to know the definition of a wide range of (surely basic) English concepts. Dependent clauses, coordinating conjunctions, etc.
