@JasperLoy Ah, I think I'll leave that to the respected and more prolific members of the site. I like EL&U but feel more comfortable on ELL. Answers and questions on EL&U sometimes go too far into linguistics territory for me to follow! So while I enjoy this chatroom and participating on EL&U on occasion, I think I'll allow those members who cultivate it regularly to run for moderator here, and simply hope that when we have elections on ELL I am returned to my post (I'm an appointed beta mod)

Name that kitty.
Or at least, give its species.
Hint: it hadn’t been seen for 100 years till now.
It is, strangely enough, a cheetah.
Without any spots to speak of.
Its coloring is more that of a lion or puma, but it is a cheetah. So strange.

1:48 AM
That must be a cameleopard.

hah
It’s just a very rare genetic variation. Until last year, the previous documented sighting was in 1921.
He has no spots.
Pretty much.
The he part is in the 3rd picture.
I see the North Koreans are becoming more and more sabre-addled every day.

They will conquer your country, better watch out!

> North Korea said on Saturday it was entering a "state of war" with South Korea in a continuing escalation of tough rhetoric against Seoul and Washington after coming under international sanctions for its nuclear test. "From this time on, the North-South relations will be entering the state of war and all issues raised between the North and the South will be handled accordingly," a statement carried by the North's official KCNA news agency said.
They are doing everything they can to get attention. It’s like a spoiled little kid whom no one pays any attention to.
So they jump up and down hollerin’ their fool heads off until somebody smacks ’em a good one.

They will be doing this so long as China watches and grins, and not a second longer.
China estimates that there is no danger and considers it an interesting plaything, and a tool to keep the pressure on you.

I am still amazed that they sent a couple of B-2 bombers out of Missouri all the way to Korea and back without refuelling.
@Cerberus The Economist has a cute cartoon about that this week.

2:02 AM
Hmm how long can they fly without extra fuel?

40 hours.
It took them 37.5 to get to Korea and back.
Remember Missouri is in the middle of the country, too.
Oh, 44 hours is the record. Hm.

That's long.
I like the tea.

Tea?

But I think China has it all under control.
China is drinking tea.

Ah there.
I thought you meant you were yourself doing so right now.

2:10 AM
How could you miss such an essential attribute!
I am indeed drinking tea now, just like China.

I keep thinking out of the corner of my eye that Mahnax’s quote on the starboard is “Speaking of Vagina, I should make some guacamole,” and trying to figure out how those two go together.
See why I call him Max? I simply cannot get the full thing right. Ever. I don’t know why.

Or call him Bob.

I should make tea. It sounds better just right now than ice cream.
@Cerberus Why, for his haircut?

I think because he once has Bob Marley as his icon.

ah

2:16 AM
Tea is good.

I seem to have strep of the left, regrown tonsil flap again.
I am really getting tired of this.
We may have to snip it again.

Sounds annoying.
Yeah, cut it out.

2:36 AM
Did you like my Seneca quote today?
> Counting even yesterday, all past time is lost time; the very day which we are now spending is shared between ourselves and death. It is not the last drop that empties the water-clock, but all that which previously has flowed out; similarly, the final hour when we cease to exist does not of itself bring death; it merely of itself completes the death-process.
I got 200 flipping reppers for the straw that broke the camel’s back. Embarrassing.
I added more content when it was getting too much for a one-line answer. I was feeling guilty.
> A city statement said Ruby's detention followed a complaint that he bit a man, and wasn't linked with the ministry incident. Dogs often follow anti-austerity protesters in Athens.
There is something almost mythic about dogs following the protesters.

3:02 AM
@tchrist There was this one time I got 200 230 rep for saying "dehydration".

A: Term for "Death by Lack of Water"

MahnaxDehydration might be the word you're looking for: He died from dehydration.

Also, in my absence, I've reached 7000 rep. Whee.

3:59 AM
@Mahnax whee!

What's the exact meaning of "data-lite" in this text? "biNu’s cloud based technology platform powers the data-lite app, providing fast and affordable access to apps and popular internet services that can be used immediately"

Q: What image do you recall when hearing 'Fluffy'?

ListeneverIn Harry Potter’s story, Fluffy is a monstrous looking dog with three heads. But if I look up dictionaries the word might have the meaning of ‘very cute fluffy dog’, I thought. So I like to call him ‘bok-shee-ree’(복실이) in Korean – it generally means a cute puppy or a kind looking girl. I wonder w...

Seriously? Seriously? How has this not been closed?

2:10 PM
@Robusto nah...that seems OK to me...in another language it is very easy to miss humor and irony and sarcasm and such. The word 'fluffy' in English to the OP stil isn't yet stuck to the fluffy meaning and so they aren't sure what nuance of fluffiness there is about a giant dog.

Either I am in a fell mood today, or I am in need of a new fell to replace the existing skin that appears to have worn too thin to afford any protection from slings and arrows. Anybody got any spare dragon hames I could put me on?

@RegDwighт Here are 190 “is it a real word” questions to go with your spiffy new tag.

6:29 PM
Yeah I was suspecting something in that ballpark.
I'll need help.
Or time.
Though actually only the first page looks good. The rest are fuzzy matches.

@RegDwighт I’m glad to do so. I just didn’t want to overstep without your encouragement, and confirmation that that was what sort of thing you were looking for.

8:26 PM
@RegDwighт I’ve more than doubled the tag count, up to triple digits now. I don’t mind retagging at all; it’s writing good tag wikis that I find difficult.

Anyone who is both bored and civic-minded might care to fix some of these outstanding issues.
