@Robusto "And let's face facts. You closed my question with NO other votes." This is not quite true. There were three close votes right from the onset, and I am fairly certain that one of them was mine. See the comment by JSBangs and note how it's not by Kosmonaut. Then in came the comment by Joel, who kind of scared closers away by the very virtue of being Joel. And then the existing close votes aged away.
Anyhow, I thought you actually agreed that it was off-topic, and even submitted it as an example question for the Linguistics proposal.

Q: why is it said that "messages are sent to methods"

broiyanIn object oriented programming, it is said that messages are sent to methods. In this context, why is the word "method" used instead of "procedure" or "function". In other words, why was the word "method" introduced to programming?

@Robusto Hi, I need a Help from you

@RegDwight — I agreed to go along with the decision. That's not the same thing. The reason I submitted it as an example for Linguistics is because I felt it was a good question and wanted it to find a home.
@SankarGanesh — What do you need?

@Robusto: I have to speak in meeting in-order to explain my project to new employees, I was very nervous , can you pls give some tips how to impress my speech in that meeting

@SankarGanesh — How soon is your meeting?

11:04 AM
@Robusto it's after 1 hour, they told me now only

@RegDwight — The simple fact is, it was closed with no other votes. Go and look if you don't believe me. And I submitted Joel's comment as evidence that another moderator had declared the question on topic. So he acted in spite of opinions to the contrary.
@SankarGanesh — I don't see how I can help you in that period of time. For one thing, I don't have the time right now. For another, I don't know anything about the topic you need to talk about. The best thing I can tell you is simply to be natural and do your best. Acknowledge that you don't speak English well, and do the best you can. It would help if you spent this hour making notes in English about what you are going to say.
@SankarGanesh — And good luck.

@Robusto I am going to explain my projects , what had did, i m very expert in techincal, i had few problems in english, that's why i came here and ask you
@Robusto Thanks for your Wishes

@Kosmonaut — According to the FAQ, which proscribes questions for which all answers may be equally valid, should this be closed?

Q: What usage arguments are persuasive?

nohatGiven the recent blog post that some kinds of subjective questions are OK on Stack Exchange sites, I thought I would try to formulate a good subjective question about usage to see what kinds of arguments people find persuasive and why. So, for questions about a usage dispute: What basis do yo...

I ask this knowing in advance what your determination will be; I just want hear your justifications.

@Robusto The simple fact is, it was closed with three other votes — that had aged away, but of which Kosmonaut might well have been aware. In dubio pro reo. And if anyone is heavily biased here, that's certainly Joel, IMHO. But that's not the main point of my previous comment.
The main point of my previous comment is that the question was closed long ago, and even if it were single-handedly closed by Kosmonaut, against the openly stated will of each and every other user, even then — as you have just said yourself, and not for the first time — you "agreed to go along with the decision".
So, all I'm saying is, I have no idea why you're suddenly so up in arms about it. Frankly, I don't see how you get from "I agree to go along with the decision" to "abuse of mod power". That's all I'm wondering. I understand that the recent classical-language question might have put the sting back in — but again, I'm not sure why. It has been closed, too. And very promptly at that.
And you, and me, and Kosmonaut — all three of us have thrown their close-votes in. Which somehow makes me think that we're all on the same page here. Aren't we? In fact, you've gone on record as saying that you'd like to wait and see if the classical-language question gets closed; only if it were left open would you vote for reopening your question.
I'm neither Brutus nor Caesar. It just makes me sad to see Kosmonaut sad. And yes, it also makes me sad to see you sad. And I don't want to be sad. That's all.

@RegDwight — As further dialogue is likely to engender less light than heat, and as things have fallen out as they have while I clearly remain powerless to effect a different outcome, I've said all I am inclined to say on the matter.
