@Jefromi understand your concern. dont think there is a consistent sitewide policy on citing blogs in SE chat rooms. the movie was discussed by others/ me in the chat room it got flagged on and maybe another mod considered it (the flag) "flag spam" & other users/ regulars have expressed dislike for the sometimes hair-trigger flagging in that room. etc. will try to be more reserved in future. sorry for the hassle.

@vzn What you did was against site-wide policy in my judgment (and some other mods I double-checked with). Any flags were not "flag spam", they were justified flags. If you're currently discussing something with people, and you have a relevant post on your blog that they're interested in, link away. If you want to see if you can start a discussion about a given movie, great. But no hard feelings or anything - you know the deal now.

@Jefromi was indeed trying to start discussion. plz link the specific written policy if you find it. maybe have only seen vague ref to "self promotion" that is not chat room specific (site wide policy incl in main sites). admittedly have run afoul citing the blog before but feel policy is not very specific on citing blogs etc esp in chat...

@Jefromi ok. meant that the line was hopefully to start a discussion in the chat rooms, some of which were dormant for several days. any chat line can be flagged by anyone, even a single line in a single room. there was a different pov expressed on the flagging in one of the rooms. but SE mods are not usually in a mood for nuance/ discussion eh? have a nice day. :)

@vzn I'm just the mod who handled the flags and I'm busy; asking on meta will let other people help out. But I will reiterate that this isn't something where nuance will really shift things. What you did was excessive, and if your goal was to start a discussion, you could've done so in a different, acceptable way.

@Jefromi all mods are busy. SE mods always make the right judgement, esp those with very high rep. am not arguing with that.
