Are established moderators in a for life or cycle of re-election position?

What's the expected/typical time commitment for a moderator?

@PeterCooperJr. Honestly, 10 or 15 minutes a day average for most people. Occasionally one of us will be traveling or otherwise life-busy and "sign out" for a bit, either formally or informally. Very occasionally--like every few months--something crops up that requires a bit of sustained time. A long-form conversation about a low-grade troublesome user, or gathering thoughts on a policy/practice that doesn't seem to be working well, &c.
