I assume that on MO, long comment chains are generally converted to comment chains, right? Just like on other SE sites?
I've flagged this question of mine to have the comments converted to a chat room. mathoverflow.net/questions/309044

@TannerSwett Not necessarily. If the discussion is substantive and bears on the question, it makes a lot of sense to keep it there on the page instead of forcing people to flit back and forth between rooms. Irrelevancies may be either edited out or shunted off to chat.

Todd, I wouldn’t want you to scale back the work that you enjoy and that many of us appreciate so much, but it’d be good to see if MO can remain robust in your absence. So sometime it might be healthy to take a vacation! — Matt F. 12 hours ago
@ToddTrimble I hope this thread of mine is not one of the reasons why you are thinking this. I think you're doing a great job and I have no complaints against the current group of moderators; I was merely worried that we were stressing you out too much with this amount of work. — Federico Poloni 3 hours ago
Let me join Matt F. and Federico Poloni in saying that it seems that the mods are doing good job. (As far as I can tell - I suppose there are many things that I do not see.)
Perhaps the only complaint of mine would be that it seems to me that mods are not that active on meta - but that might be just my personal impression. (Maybe this might impression might be caused partially by the fact that Mathematics Meta is more active in general and I see mods - and some former mods - there quite often.)
Both Federico Poloni and me looked at some data that are publicly available and are related (at least to some extent) to moderating - namely activity on meta and posts that were CW-ed, locked/unclocked, merged (which are mod-only actions). From that we got that impression that most of stuff is done by one moderator. (At least the stuff that it is publicly visible - I do not know how much flags each individual moderator handled, not even fro my own flags.)
This impression was partially confirmed by Todd Tribmle who wrote in his answer: " I am currently the most active moderator for day-to-day on-site actions."
I hope that this question and the related conversation on chat did not cause unpleasant feelings for mods.
Since also slightly ambiguous formulation about election was mentioned in the question, I will also add a link to Federico Poloni's recent answer on Meta Stack Exchange: Disinformation on moderator elections.

A: Disinformation on moderator elections

Federico PoloniMaybe the original source of that word is the moderators tab in the list of users We believe moderation starts with the community itself, so in addition to privileges earned through reputation, we periodically hold democratic moderator elections. (emphasis mine). This is not a user-editable...
