A new chatroom on MO has been created:
in Geometry+physics, 4 hours ago, by Arun Debray
A few friends and I have mentioned that we'd be interested in a MO chatroom analogous to the homotopy theory chatroom (https://chat.stackexchange.com/rooms/9417/homotopy-theory), but for stuff at the interface between geometry (and sometimes topology) and physics (typically QFT but also other stuff)

 Geometry+physics

A room for people interested in interactions between geometry,...

Considering that several users around here often imply that MathOverflow somehow has moral high ground compared to Mathematics (which is called all sorts of unflattering name), it seems a bit embarrassing to the local community that the problem with copy-pasted without any attribution was brought up on meta in April 2016 and ignored since then.

Q: Recent suggested tag wiki edits

Stefan KohlToday [Apr 21 '16] and yesterday there were a considerable number of suggested edits to previously empty tag wikis and tag wiki excerpts (browse here; viewing the full list requires >=10K points, I think), all by the same user. These edits mostly didn't really follow the guidelines on writing go...

A: Recent suggested tag wiki edits

Dmitri PavlovThe problem seems to be more serious: the tag wiki edits by this user seem to copy-paste material from sites like MathWorld, which requires a license for commercial use (http://mathworld.wolfram.com/about/faq.html#copyright), for example, https://mathoverflow.net/tags/axiom-of-choice/info is copy...

Concerning the problematic tag-wikis mentioned in Stefan Kohl's post, I have only seen one tag-wiki edited by S. Carnahan and one edited by jeq (Joseph Quinsey).

It seems that some users have taken a different approach how to deal with problematic tag-wikis - complete removal. For example, the edit by S. Carnahan on the zeta-functions tag-wiki and the edits by jeq on the orthogonal-matrices tag-excerpt and tag-wiki.

A: List questions: Community Wiki?

Robert CartainoThere's nothing inherently wrong with your "I need a comprehensive list" question; It's just that we specifically forgo asking these types of questions because they are not a good fit for this type of Q&A site. Stack Exchange is well-suited to asking very specific questions that represent real ...

> What I am saying is that the Big List™ breaks down the whole premise of why we created these sites in the first place — to vet and deem the information contained in the post as useful. Marking a question as "community wiki" does not take away from the inherent randomness of the discussion that becomes the thread.

there was some discussion of the poincare-perelman proof in here awhile back esp wrt the new yorker Nasar-Gruber article. fyi reddit recently revisited/ rehashed some of the same angles https://www.reddit.com/r/math/comments/98i9j7/the_clash_over_the_poincar%C3%A9_c‌onjecture_2006/
