Q: What to do when during a meeting client people start to fight (even physically) with each others?

H. W. BawanI work on a project that requires many meetings with client people from different departments. These departments can be considered as closed silos, where everyone knows only the things they care of and nothing more (obviously some people are more open whereas others follow this policy strictly). ...

Do managers of people involved in the fight know about it? Or at least about people yelling during meetings? If yes, how did they react?
What is the country/region you are in? These things make a big difference in how these things are perceived.
You might wanna change your username if its your actual name just to remain anonymous.
Is this on your premises or on the client's?
@Simon people with managerial level normally attend these meetings and take part to the yelling/insulting part
@henning meetings are always at client's (rarely via skype/phone call)
@GoodSp33d not my real surname

@Borgh I don't think there is a country/region where this behavior is acceptable in a working situation. Best option is to leave quietly.
Are the multiple departments all part of the client or are some of those departments from your company?

Which country is this?
@Gianluca ok, throwing laptops probably not but generally high spirits are far more accepted in places with a strong 'macho' culture where it might be seen as Defending your Honour.
Any particular reason your company has not fired this client? Seems there's plenty of reason to ...
Can you name the company? It sounds like an amazing place to work.

To clarify: You and your colleague work for company A. Company A is contracted by Company C (Client). The yelling and fighting are all by employees of Company C. You are not an employee of Company C. Is that correct?
Your company spends 36 people hours to discuss the color of a button? At an average cost to the company of $50 an hour, that's an 1800 dollar button. I think your company needs to rethink this strategy. Only NASA and nuclear power plants and similar sorts of entities should be doing this sort of quality control.
If physical violence breaks out at your workplace, call the Security department if you have one, or the police if you don't.
@corsiKa Not quite that bad, but I've sat in a meeting at an insurance company where they discussed for about an hour about adding two items to a drop down list. There were about 14 people in this meeting, and the ONLY reason it didn't last longer is because one of the contractors sitting at the back of the room suddenly stood up and said "I've done it, let's move on".
" recently attend a 2 hours meeting with 18 people from 9 or 10 different departments to discuss the position, the color and the label of a single button in a web page." what a horrendous waste of time.
Bring popcorn??

Obviously, you should report it etc. I would give serious thought to bringing an air horn. When it goes off every should stop to see what going on, and maybe that's enough to realize they gone to far and stop.
