A: Does Ramakrishna Mission consider itself a Hindu organisation?

Pradip GangopadhyayAn American asked the late Swami Swahananda, the former head of the Southern California Ramakrishna Vedanta Center, this question many years ago. I was present. The Swami smiled and said of course the RKM organization is a Hindu organization and these arguments are given by lawyers to stop the Co...

Thanks for your answer. You clarified my doubts regarding their status.At least someone answered.. I thought the question is offensive for some extreme RKM followers so it won't be answered..
@Partha So,do you have any proof that's RKM doesn't have minority status? How can be you so sure if you don't have such "proof"?
@Partha Just knowing isn't sufficient. As far as I know, RKM was granted minority status thats how their schools survived in authoritarian rule. Correct me if I am wrong here. Also plz give some proof to justify your claim.
@Partha Pradip answered my question in the very first part of his answer through his first hand account of swami swahananda 's statement.
@Partha you are more concerned with the second part of his answer.
@Partha you were blaming me for choosing wrong answer. Pradip clearly answered my question.
What's the big deal whether an organization calls itself hindu or non hindu as long as they are doing activities related to hinduism..
@Rishx What RKM is or is not is off-topic for this site. Refer to on-topic page to know which type of questions are allowed and which should be avoided.

'As soon as the Mamata Banerjee government came to power, the Ramakrishna Mission authorities requested her to grant the RKM a minority status.' - source for this? Or were you also present in this meeting :)
@Rishx RKM is the most inclusive religious body around. They are a Hindu organisation. The daily puja held is as per Hindu rituals and scriptures. Unless you can present a document from the RKM HQ, let's not argue on this issue and malign its image. We are not doing any good by arguing on such an inane subject.

@D.Chatterjee I am surprised to see the role of the moderators. They on their own demand evidence in favour of the answers very often. This time a blatant lie has been acceptedbas answer and they kept mum!! Its true that RKM authorities wanted to go out of Hinduism once which is very unfortunate.Its also probably true that they would have enjoyed a minority status.But the fact is that they havent got it and the state govt. does not have the power to give it either!! Very unfortunate on the part of the Moderators.
@D.Chatterjee I too want to know if RKM officially consider themselves as Hindu now.No doubt their followers are majorly Hindus.But the philosophical differences they claimed are sadly some what true... That's why I wanted to know if RKM now considers themselves as Hindus or not
@D.Chatterjee I am not maligning RKM's image.Infact it was shocking for me to read about their legal case.Also just because they follow Hindu rituals doesn't necessarily means they are Hindus i.e if they have philosophical differences with Hinduism.
@Rishx please kindly teach me what is hindu philisophy. I am totally ignorant of it and so not able to judge whether i myself am hindu or not. Kindly let know me Sir, I implore thee-- i am at your mercy
Please cite sources for your answer.
@Partha Ask your RKM not me..But seeing ur helpless state I m melted so .. traditional Hindus believe in Vedas and only Vedas Unlike RKM who clearly claimed in the affidavit that they believe in other religions holy books as well.There you go...
@Rishx thanks so much.But what about 'non-traditional' hindus?
05:21
@Partha what about them?
@Rishx Who are them?BTW, 'traditional hindus believe in vedas and only vedas' . So if i obeying some purana or samhita found from somewhere cotradict the Vedas then I am not a hindu? Please do not be such unkind!
@Partha Awwww..plz don't make me look so cruel...tbh if u consider purana part which contradicts the veda true and Vedas false then ur nastik..If u r a hindu or not..i m not antatyamin so i cant tell ;) its upto u to call urself Hindu like it's RKM s choice to be called Hindu or not ..
@Rishx thanks so much.This was what i wanted to hear from you clearly. Thnx agin.kind regards
@Partha ur wlcm dear :)
