@MonicaCellio There are several issues with this question. The first is the title, which I edited. The other issue is that it wraps several big questions into one saucy post. I have a feeling the moderators will be busy a bit pruning comments.

I feel I have a good idea of what is needed of a mod, and I've been exposed to the way things are handled under the theory of moderation often. That and I think I'm reasonably competent at conflict resolution
Between my 1 1/2 year stint moderating minecraft forums a couple of years ago and running about a dozen minecraft servers and other gaming servers
stopping people from breaking out into unconstructive conflict is a transferable skill, I feel. At least, it helped me tremendously in the jobs I worked so far (to tie that to the workplace)
