00:11
@ThomBlairIII these pads are AWESOME
my first chest just popped in!
oh cool!
yeah, mine started working again
I made mine 50x50 I think
how big did you make yours?
@Χ-27 @ThomBlairIII So ladders officially work as separators then?
fences
@TARDISMaker fences
@ThomBlairIII each section is 16x16
00:14
yep, they work like a charm
I have 3 of them so far
Oops, yeah that's what I meant
@ThomBlairIII Awesome!
@Χ-27 oh cool!
@Χ-27 nice!
I'll have to use those to keep some more control in the corruption
@TARDISMaker yeah, bog water pools are also very effective for when you're on the move
00:15
@ThomBlairIII Oh, yeah
you guys can come see my rig I'm setting up, colorfull hills
first teleporter on the right in my teleport room
@Χ-27 Hows the palace coming?
um.... construction has been temporarily paused, it should resume later
getting hotfeet, warmworms and chests right and left
gotten 5 chests so far, no useful blueprints though
just broke a diamond sword....
00:53
@Χ-27 nice!
yeah, recipes seem hard to get, but once you get the full pad setup, you can get some over an hour or so, at 1 per minute (1:15 actually)
I did notice that sometimes you can get 2 recipes or chips in one chest
they seem to have made the contents much more random now
I've gotten a chip and a journal page in 1 chest before
or 2 recipes in 1 chest
@x-27 one thing about building on water though that is kind of freaky sometimes is that when you come back to the pads, sometimes there will be missing blocks. All you have to do is restart though and they come back
that one really bummed me out before I read about restarting in a forum
I had been replacing them
and it becomes a SERIOUS security problem when the water takes a fence piece down in the corrupt or lava layer!!
@x-27 to save you the trouble, I tried the same setup with grassy dirt to see if I could also get wooden chests, but the spawning mechanics are different....didn't work
I might try making the grassy dirt corrupt with corrupt water and see if chests will spawn there
but I'll have to put in fences then
:\
01:50
@ThomBlairIII would have been good to know, I probably used 2 stacks patching places that water had reclaimed.
@David @gandalf3 @iKlsR can someone change my name back to X-27? I thought it would be cool to make myself ping proof, but now no pings are coming through and it is getting annoying :/
@Χ-27 lol done.
thanks! :)
@Χ-27 Aren't you already?
updated just for BSE
Or did you use some sort of invisible character to try to make it harder to ping you...
(btw, if I type in just @, it automatically comes up with you're name)
01:59
@TARDISMaker χ
instead of X
@Χ-27 Nice :P
U+03C7: Greek Small Letter Chi
Okay
I was wondering why when I pressed X, your name disappeared...
:)
@ThomBlairIII I'm using a few stacks of your ignious rock for my spawner.
02:29
just got 62 gunpowder from those spawning cycles.
@Χ-27 k
@Χ-27 nice!!!
@Χ-27 my 50x50 took 2500 blocks! that was a lot
lol\
yeah
can get lots of bombs too, so that's cool
also, TONS of those blue extractors
they can be useful for coal mining I guess
02:48
yah
somewhat
03:00
@ThomBlairIII I now have 60 of those blue extractors just from a few chests
awesome!!
I've filled up a whole chest of them :/
@ThomBlairIII It's almost sad having them isn't it?
Since super extractors are so much better?
I guess for basic things isn't really useful though...
@TARDISMaker yeah...if I needed tons of coal, it'd be cool, but I don't
@ThomBlairIII Yeah
oh well, the quirks of having opulence! XD
03:03
Part of the reason why I haven't been playing, is just that I'm not really a huge building...
I play more for the other aspects of the game
(a race to get lumite)
Once I get there, it looses it's interest
@x-27 I'm now corrupting the grassy farm I made to see if it'll spawn chests too
I don't know if corrupted grass will work, maybe only corrupted stone/dirt?
@ThomBlairIII That's a really pixelated image...
@X-27 idk
@TARDISMaker I really lowered the file size so it'd be easier to download
@ThomBlairIII Ah, okay
03:09
but, in just the few minutes of dark, I've already got 2 corrupted twiggys, a chizzard & a pigsy walking on the edge
so maybe once I remove the water, maybe chests will spawn too
maybe
it's going to be a real mess to clean up :P
Out of curiosity, are you using ocean space just because it's a large clear area to work in?
corrupted grass is not a natural material though.
@TARDISMaker pretty much
@ThomBlairIII purification bomb?
03:11
and because it is away from other land, making all possible keepa spawns appear there.
but it's easier on the powercells than to pull it all from the corrupt then place it all
I think it makes it mineral water, but that probably wouldn't be that bad...
@TARDISMaker well, it also ensures that no chests can spawn anywhwere else but there
@ThomBlairIII Ah, okay
if there is any other land nearby, it can cause chests to spawn there and be lower level chests
03:12
@ThomBlairIII Yeah, that makes sense
Have you thought about building roofs?
@TARDISMaker I wouldn't want the corrupted grass to go back to normal
@TARDISMaker why?
So that you don't have to worry about making it stay night?
@ThomBlairIII Oh, okay
I didn't realize that you where keeping it all
@TARDISMaker I can answer that in private
I don't want anybody to learn my secrets lest the devs hear about them and patch them
:)
that would be bad
this spawner is awesome.
the big problem with cleaning up my corrupted water is that corrupted animals don't die in sunlight!!!
eek
so now I might have to work to make sure they aren't around when I go to clean up
hmm...
03:16
@ThomBlairIII Ah, okay :)
just lay down a layer of sand or dirt, or anything else in the corrupted water, then pull it up again.
if you do it with a materiel that can't be corrupted,
it will replace the liquid you place it in.
@X-27 ooo!! good idea!!! thanks!
ping me if you get any more good ideas...I'm going to be in game
you didn't know about killing a pond by filling it with a dirt and then digging the dirt up again?
03:32
Night All.
03:45
@X-27 I just forgot...thanks for reminding me :)

4 hours later…
07:45
Over the past year (since I started keeping these records) I have written upwards of 214128 words.
The most that I wrote on a single day was 6149 words on November 6th.
Over that same interval, I have started reading 104 books and finished reading 92 books.
08:04
Yesterday, we got 8 more accepted answers, 14 more questions were answered, 26 more answers were posted, 51 badges were earned, 64 comments were left, 27 more questions were asked, 13 more questions were unanswered, 27 users were created, and 118 votes were created.
Our question answer accept rate went down by 0.0271%.
Our question answer rate went down by 0.0433%, and our answer accept rate went down by 0.0173%.
@Gwenn The last book I read (completely) was the fourth Artemis Fowl book. (The Opal Deception.)

5 hours later…
13:35
@x-27 it turns out you don't need fences between pad sections as long as there is a full 1 block wide gap (no water in the gap (it can be below the gap)) between sections. For some reason the AI won't cross the gaps if there is no water in the gap. :)
I'm now taking OUT the fences I put in !!
I'd leave them in, it may be useful for if they update the AI to fix that.
14:00
well, yeah, but too late now... :(
the spawning seems irregular right now
but, it sure is easy to defeat the corrupted animals from below, when you're down in the water
they can't hit you at all
I bet it is!
so, at least it's a corrupt dust farm
well that is always good.
it kinda feels like AI defeating school
could come in handy if the Terminators ever take over XD
lol
14:02
yeah
I'm just hoping that the devs don't patch it
well, that's for sure
I'm hoping they make lots of cool stuff
they drastically changed the AI last update, there are certainly things that need refining, so more changes are probably coming :(
I know there are at least two builds I will be making with the blueprint system
(NID is getting two of his put in)
nice!
did he make the Wishing Well?
@NᴏᴠɪᴄᴇIɴDɪsɢᴜɪsᴇ you should upload that video on youtube of you making your cathedral Before R31 so it is obvious that you are the original author.
@ThomBlairIII I don't think so...
14:05
maybe the new update will allow people to make their own blueprints?
Remember the video he posted so long ago?
no, I never saw it
hum...
let me dig through the transcript
14:07
k, let me watch it...just a sec
that is one of the buildings that is being blueprinted
not sure what the other is
14:18
that's cool
14:38
Before and after.
@NᴏᴠɪᴄᴇIɴDɪsɢᴜɪsᴇ you are not to good at preserving the natural beauty of a landscape, are you?
Food for thought: gizmodo.com/…

1 hour later…
16:02
yo
@ARadish yo
how ru? @GiantCowFilms
Nervous, I have an AP exam on monday D:
!!!
@GiantCowFilms so, what, you a special smart person?
@ARadish The questions are really tricky....
16:09
what subject?
and, I get tired before the end of the exam (I haven't even made it through and entire practice exam).
@ARadish Computer Science.
lol, you'll do fine
@ARadish The problem is they make you do stuff you don't normally do.
Because you have to work out what these nested for loops do, and its really really really tricky!
16:10
you'll still do fine
@ARadish Thanks, I hope so.
bro, you are like a living breathing computer (with strange morals, but that's not the point)
@ARadish XD
so what are the questions like?
@ARadish They haven't worked out the bovine ethics chip yet.
@ARadish here is a piece of code. what does it do?
16:12
it does stuff???
lol
why i am not an AP computer science guy^^
idk what most code does.
i kinda just go with it
and find out
But I can't run it 'cause its on a stupid piece of paper
:|
@GiantCowFilms well, just don't stress about it
16:19
go in chill, and in control, and you'll come out the same. i think
I hope its that simple

@someonewithpc close, but no cigar, the rhombuses aren't planar, they have a deflection angle. :/
but i'm getting close
i don't know what scalar value to give them... Only that the tips, need to be twice as high from the center as the minor obtuse vertices. which is just planar geometry, and doesn't give me values for 3D.
16:42
Warning: Any MathJax formulas I post require ChatJax installed* in your browser!
*(it's not a extension, just a JS bookmark) :)
@Gustavo6046 did you see my rhombic hexaconahedron?
@ARadish Cool! Remembers Mathematica, a place I like :P
And also Wolfram|Alpha.
BTW the following formula discovers the size of a vector:
$$\sqrt (x^2 + y^2 + z^2)$$
And the following tranforms a vector into a unit vector ("normalizes" it) for conversion into a rotator (where V is the vector):
$$V_x = x / \sqrt \mathrm gcd {V_x}{V_y}{V_z}$$
or something like so.
Crap!
Ok, continuing...
$$V_x = \frac {V_x} {\sqrt \gcd ({V_x}, {V_y}, {V_z})}$$
$$V_y = \frac {V_y} {\sqrt{\gcd({V_x}, {V_y}, {V_z})}}$$
and the same thing for $V_z$.
This presumes $V_x, V_y, V_z \in \Bbb{R}$.
See? So many 3D-modelling-related formulas can be done with MathJax! :D
oh hi gandalf :D You make so ${many}^2$ cool renders!
@gandalf3 Wait, so does that mean that when I posted that link, it wasn't old news?
@Gustavo6046 lol
@TARDISMaker XD
So this is $\text{Blender}^{2.77a}$ which I finally updated to use! BTW, where is a changelog?
cool
thanks
18:24
This is frustrating...
I'm working on making my urls look nice
So that I can go TARDISMaker/admin/
Instead of TARDISMaker/?id=0293498592034
But whenever I add a trailing slash, suddenly my js becomes a copy of my index, and my css becomes nothing, and they're both passed as text/html
Really annoying
I feel like it's being caused by my local server setup...
@Gustavo6046 i like my vectors in edible form: {xi, yj}
@TARDISMaker i'm gonna pretend i followed that so i can sympathize
wow, that must be hard
@ARadish :P
I think the only people who will really understand that are @gandalf3 and @GiantCowFilms and maybe @David
@TARDISMaker Ah, .htaccess?
And @EBrown (forgot about you)
@TARDISMaker You issue is well, odd
18:32
@EBrown Yeah
@GiantCowFilms No it's not.
@GiantCowFilms Very
It's actually very common.
my issues are odd
18:33
I saw a lot of stack overflow things when googling
Are your js files in the js/ folder, or something?
Nothings seems to work though...
@EBrown Basically
@EBrown I've been doing websites for years now, and I have never seen that behavior :P. I guess that is because usually my configration is correct :P
my room smells like burning hair, because i was doing some soldering, but dropped the iron on my rug.
I have them in build/js/
18:34
Easiest way to fix this: move the JS and CSS files to the same folder, then change the links/relations to them to be absolute.
@GiantCowFilms Do you do fancy php url stuff?
@TARDISMaker Yes, look at blend exchange :P
There's a harder way to fix it, but basically you instruct the .htaccess NOT to use Mod_Rewrite on those folders.
@EBrown Okay...
@GiantCowFilms Oh, yeah
@EBrown Okay
What's happening is that the .htaccess Mod_Rewrite is rewriting the js and css folders to the admin stuff.
18:34
Is that a more correct approach?
@EBrown Okay
@TARDISMaker I don't know if either is really correct but it's a more sustainable approach.
@EBrown Okay
And then if you ever add subfolders and such, you can have the .htaccess ignore them as well.
Both approaches will work just fine, the first is easier, the second is more robust.
I don't remember exactly how to do it in .htaccess (it's been years, literally) but that's what is happening.
18:36
Okay
I'm googling it right now
btw, thanks, I didn't expect to actually get help here
I was mostly venting my frustration
I saw the @EBrown signal.
Anyway, I'm off.
woosh
@TARDISMaker EBrown == the hero you deserve, but not the one you need? (or something)
@gandalf3 Yeah :P
18:46
@gandalf3 I don't think we need @EBrown to think he's batman. Hes already wooshing an imaginary cape.
@ARadish edible form?
understandable
@GiantCowFilms He has an EBrownSignal too
I mean, what's a vector's edible form?
@gandalf3 Wait, what if he is batman? *plot twist*
18:48
lol
@Gustavo6046 {xi, yj}
ok, lemma try
${xi, yj}$
yay!
nom nom nom eat vector
that doesn't look like a vector. I don't understand i or j...
now do a compnent vector
A-dot-B/||B||
18:50
$A-dot-B/||B||$
nope...
@ARadish do you use ChatJax?
thats the same as comp_B of A
@Gustavo6046 no
:<
ok, btw I gonna see a pull request at github
19:17
@Gustavo6046 Hi! I just saw you were totally into Mathmatica & since you are also into rendering, I thought you might find some of this guy's website interesting: bugman123.com
@Gustavo6046 He has lots of Mathmatica code on it
Thanks!
I think this one is really pretty:
(* runtime: 0.1 second *)
<< Graphics`Shapes` ; alpha = ArcCos[-Sqrt[5]/5];
surface = {{{0.11, 0.35, 1}, {0.16, 0.33, 1}, {0.23, 0.35, 0.99}, {0.3, 0.38, 0.96}, {0.35, 0.43, 0.9}, {0.29, 0.42, 0.8}, {0.22, 0.37,0.7}, {0.14, 0.34, 0.62}, {0.078, 0.296, 0.585}}, {{0, 0, 1}, {0.13, 0.09, 1}, {0.29, 0.22, 0.99}, {0.4, 0.33, 0.95}, {0.41, 0.45, 0.88}, {0.31, 0.47, 0.77}, {0.2, 0.43, 0.65}, {0.08, 0.4, 0.56}, {-0.019, 0.398, 0.526}}, {{0.36, 0, 1}, {0.39, 0.11, 1}, {0.45, 0.23,0.99}, {0.49, 0.35, 0.95}, {0.47, 0.45, 0.86}, {0.36, 0.52, 0.73}, {0.22, 0.5, 0.59}, {0.13, 0.48, 0.48}, {0.07, 0.489, 0
with Mathematica I mean the SE site
and I love fractals!
19:21
Oh yeah, me too
but from an intellectual & artistic perspective, rather than a mathematical one, since I don't understand math
I do understand math, just not fractal math :P but I do also like fractals artistically.
@Gustavo6046 I saw an interview with Mandlebrot, where he was describing how when he first came up with fractal math theory, he was literally laughed out of his job
He was totally disgraced and forced to quit because nobody believed fractals were true math
I'm looking for the interview now
"Nobody believed fractals were real math"
That was in like 1970 or so
I have to look up the details to get them straight
1970?
Same year that Conway's Game of Life first appeared!
19:26
don't quote me on 1970
I'm checking right now
@Gustavo6046 Sorry, I can't find the exact interview I saw, but it was just SO shocking to hear him describing how as a professional mathematician in this day and age, his theories, which are sound, solid math, could cause him to be disgraced in a professional intellectual environment
19:43
@david @iklsr @gandalf3 I just tried to upload an animated gif and it failed to upload...where should I describe the problem? Is it a SE (ie Meta) issue or an non-SE issue (ie imgur issue)?
Is it > 2 MB?
No, it's 6MB, which I now remember is the problem, but the error message simply said "upload failed. Please try again"
I think the error message should be more informative
and not tell someone to Try Again
@ThomBlairIII yes... that's a known thing
Bad error handling
@gandalf3 So, just let it go?
Post a thing on meta if you want, looks like this was fixed on main
So maybe they'll fix it in chat
19:47
@gandalf3 Oh ok, thanks!
btw, for those who care (if anyone actually does), this is what worked for me stackoverflow.com/a/12887204/4313151
If I understand it correctly, it's essentially saying that for everything that I marked as relative, it should be treated as absolute with the base being the root folder
I'm starting to really like having stack overflow around
I've gotten basically all of the answers to my questions on the project from there without having to ask any
20:36
This is what I've got so far on the FAQ: meta.blender.stackexchange.com/a/1068/1853
21:11
(0_0)
@ARadish The rhombic hexacontaredron done yet?
21:32
@cegaton Nice going
@someonewithpc not really, i couldn't figure out the scalar values to make the rhombic faces planar
@ARadish .. Why aren't they planar?
How did you make them?
angle from interior point, to exterior point wasn't quite right
@someonewithpc i make the star and scale it in the local Z
as close as i can
@ARadish Couldn't you press 0?
what are you trying to do?
one sec
21:59
see. non-planar
@someonewithpc
so imagine each star face as a dish.
the distance from the bottom of a dish, to teh top needs to be X, and the distance of the intermediate vertices, (the ones at the base of the star pokies) needs to be X/2
So, the rhombuses themselves are not planar.?
so i did that, and then tried scaling as close as i could with my eyes, and there is the result
@someonewithpc correct
you can see teh lines from the triangulation on the inside. :/
so that is the other angle i need. dish inclination
i have dish major radius
22:25
@someonewithpc that is my predicament. bbl
