12:01 AM
I just hope Canon starts bringing features down to their lower end models instead of just making more expensive cameras
@NoviceInDisguise btw, were you climbing earlier?
How was it?

@TARDISMaker Yes, it was a lot of fun

12:18 AM
I went (fake) climbing with Boy Scouts on a tower
I decided that it wasn't for me
I'm probably just not in good enough condition for it
Okay, I need to get more RAM
I can barely use some footage I've recorded with my camera

12:49 AM
@NoviceInDisguise @VincentScalia Just thought you guys might like to know that I've decided to start working on my TARDIS again
Just in case you guys haven't subscribed to my thread

1:49 AM
Cool! I'd like to see it when you are done!
@TARDISMaker Yeah, being in CAP keeps me in pretty good shape. Six minutes thirty seconds for a mile, 50+ situps in a minute, etc. plus my hands are very strong from working on a farm
@TARDISMaker My camera is low enough res, it is pathetic. A minute of video takes less than some cameras RAW files for a still :P
@TARDISMaker I installed 32 bit on my 64 bit laptop, so my 16 gigs of RAM is limited to 3. Really frustrating

1 hour later…
3:05 AM
@TARDISMaker Canon, as per usual, misses the mark
Nobody would be an 8k camera from cannon....
What cannon should've made is a 6D like camera that shorts 4k and a 70d like camera that shots 4k
They should have also givin 4:4:4 HDMI out for 4K on those cameras
Canon says, okay, resulution is in, everyone wants 4k. Lets make a 8k camera above all those peoples budgets....

12 hours later…
2:59 PM
@gandalf3 what do you say to having people post links to their accepted diffs on this question as answers.
So people can see that other people are doing it. (People tend to be like sheep)

3:51 PM
This guys should get a prize for ugliest blender theme on this site: blender.stackexchange.com/a/38256/3127

4:23 PM
@GiantCowFilms Yeah
I feel like all their innovation (if you can call it that) is on the super high budget cameras
They don't seem to want to make nice lower end cameras
I bet they could cram most of the 5D into a $1000 or less camera and get a lot more customers
But then again, I don't think they've made an affordable camera that shoots 4K
Their competition is starting to get to them I think
You've got the GH4 and those cameras shooting 4K
I think Sony's A7 series can do 4K now
Then you've of coarse got Black Magic with the Pocket Cinema Camera

4:38 PM
Yeah, lots of competition rising up
The incompatibility of glass between brands is keeping me from jumping on any one brand-wagon as well.

Yeah

I have begun learning some Unity 3D basics . . . using buttons to drive materials, importing assets, etc. Steep learning curve, but should be a good program to use. porting directly to Android is nice.

I would probably go to something like the GH4 just because it seems like a good camera, but I don't want to be stuck using those smaller lens
@NoviceInDisguise Oh, cool!

True, but i do stills too

What are you using to learn it?

4:41 PM
Just standard trial and error and experimentation

@NoviceInDisguise The GH4 Does both, but I'm not sure how good it is at them
@NoviceInDisguise Okay

Once i get comfortable with the UI and nav tools i'll probably follow a few tuts to get me more advanced

I opened it up a while ago and then basically closed it
@NoviceInDisguise Yeah
Now you're making me want to learn it a bit

We'll see if I can make anything cool with it. I finally have an android device to test games on, so that should help

Okay
If I do anything I'll probably be sticking to web and pc publishing

4:43 PM
And of course I need to make sure I get my competition entry done in time, so I wil need to balance that. I have a few ideas, but I can't decide on just one.

I have a few ideas, but they all rely on animation

Yeah, that is tough
I'm going to start with low-poly minimalistic sort of games
I might just start by trying to replicate other games, like the old standby street crossing ones

Yeah, that would be a simple one (or so it seems)

Yeah, a good one to start with

I'm updating my version of unity now
Hopefully I can do something with it afterwards

4:51 PM
cool

5:02 PM
oops

heyo
how was your hike?

It was amazing
Some really good rock climbing too

fun!
I did math all day

:P
user image

Pic I took yesterday
Cool spot, and completely sheltered from the wind. A short 10 foot climb and you can reach it

5:16 PM
sweet! wheres that at?

39°24'16.45"N 106° 5'46.92"W
Precise enough?

...yeah

@NoviceInDisguise Nice!
I would love to shoot a movie in that sort of environment
Lucky Radish :)

yay, you should come to CO too!

@VincentScalia Maybe eventually
Like in five years or something
There are still some pretty cool areas were I live

5:28 PM
yeah, but not really cool
you know where I want to go?

Detroit looks pretty cool how it's run down and stuff

new Zealand.

That would be AWESOME!!!!!

it is literally the coolest place on earth

All you have to do to see that that's true, is watch The Lord of the Rings
and maybe the hobbit too
but Lord of the Rings was better

5:30 PM
way better
we watched the first half of return last night
I think I might study abroad there.
next year

The first half!

crosses fingers

I'd watch the entire thing!
(I probable will pretty soon)

@TARDISMaker well yeah! the extended version is like, 3 hrs long!

@VincentScalia That'd be pretty cool

5:31 PM
and it was already 1 in the morning

@VincentScalia The normal edition is like 3 hrs long!

@TARDISMaker the theatrical? no I think its 1.5 or 2

I'm pretty sure the extended one is closer to 4hrs

@VincentScalia Nope, it's 3.5 hrs long

5:32 PM
@TARDISMaker lemme check

I own it
Wow, we're fighting over the length of a movie
I'm starting to feel stupid
I want to see the extended version, but I don't have access to it sadly

mine doesn't say how long it is
@TARDISMaker I have all three in extended limited edition
:)
spent waaaaaaaaay too much on those

$50?
Each?

I got all of them for $10 from the local target

5:35 PM
per

@VincentScalia WOW

@TARDISMaker now I feel stupid

What did you get extra for that?
@VincentScalia :)
I would expect to get them all for like $30 under normal circumstances

@TARDISMaker its got all the cut scenes, the concept arts, commentary (which i'll never listen too) cases, and all that fan junk and stuff. the concepts are really cool to page through

@VincentScalia Okay

5:37 PM
and its got interviews with the actors.

It seems like to would be cool to have all that stuff, but I don't think I'd want to spend that much on it
@VincentScalia That doesn't interest me a whole lot

you could probably look all that up on google, but it's good to have the bragging rights.

Yeah :)

@TARDISMaker yeah, a waste of resources
Anyway, on a happier note, I just handpainted a mandrill

I could buy a nice microphone for that cost!
@VincentScalia mandrill?

5:38 PM
@TARDISMaker of a handpainted mandrill?
@TARDISMaker baboon...

Oh, okay
@VincentScalia Yeah

The mandrill (Mandrillus sphinx) is a primate of the Old World monkey (Cercopithecidae) family, closely related to the baboons and even more closely to the drill. It is found in southern Cameroon, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, and Congo. Mandrills mostly live in tropical rainforests and forest-savanna mosaics. They live in groups called hordes. Mandrills have an omnivorous diet consisting mostly of fruits and insects. Their mating season takes place from June to October. Both the mandrill and the drill were once classified as baboons in the genus Papio, but recent research has determined that they...

There so expensive
No I'm talking about the extended limited edition

I have a feeling that I could buy a RED for the price of a Mandrill

5:42 PM
?

Or a new computer

Camera

@TARDISMaker really, I could sell it for that much!? :) :D

Those twenty thousand dollar cameras
@VincentScalia No
Not unless you were able to make it really
@VincentScalia :)

5:43 PM
it's lowpoly

Yeah

but its to be seen froim really far away

You could maybe convince someone to buy it for $1

@VincentScalia Okay

5:43 PM
no, it could probably go for $3 if I tried
it's animated

Make sure you add a level 20 subserf to it

, handpainted
@TARDISMaker noooooooooo... that would ruin it!

@VincentScalia That brings up the value quite a bit

it would get all round and skinny

@VincentScalia Oh, I didn't realize :P

5:45 PM
ew, "who wants this skinny, round mandrill I found? selling for $1!!!"

@VincentScalia COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!‌!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!‌!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what if i crop it?
heh?
heh?!!!

THERE WILL STILL BE AT LEAST ONE PIXEL THAT DEFIES COPYRIGHT LAW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!‌!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5:50 PM
suuuuuuuuure
uh oh. i just got a pizza stuck to my notebook

6:04 PM
Q: Now this is all entirely hypothetical, but what if someone managed to smear 3 pounds of raw pizza dough between page 190 and 572 of their cultural anthropology text-book? How would one extract so much dough from the book?

You wouldn't

6:16 PM
-5
Q: HDD vs SSD What are the advantages?

TARDIS MakerWhat are the differences between HDD's and SSD's, and what is each best for?

Apparently it's way too complex to boil down a comparison between HDD's and SSD's for an answer
Annoys me a bit

Quite an interesting read guys . . .

7:01 PM
@NoviceInDisguise we were trying to make it fun for casual observers

2 hours later…
8:56 PM
@VincentScalia stick the whole book in the oven, then after 15-20 mins dig in.
@VincentScalia all you need to do, is paste the direct link to the image. Like so:

@David Burned paper pizza mmmmm

9:51 PM
lemme rephrase that
can i get rid of the book wihtout damaging my pizza dough.?
@David it's soooo cute :D

10:18 PM
@VincentScalia Only if you're really skilled at using a Blender.
It requires vast amounts of precision to remove a book from it's dough
But once you've done it, you'll have enough money to live the rest of your life without a job with more than enough money
