@zeffii And my friends wonder why I'm worried about J.J. Abrams directing the next star wars...

BTW I think weighting the votes in this site election will be a good idea
Power users often do infact know best
^^ This is why chat active is one of the values I like in a moderator. We are considering weighting election votes. If our responsible leaders have no idea/influence over what happens here, how can they govern/maintain our site?

I don't if it is technically possible and can be implemented, but ti would be a good idea!
@GiantCowFilms I agree!

I can run adds on the BE site
@NoviceInDisguise There are stages in an election where users can make statments

True, that could be good

12:10 AM
And the questions we ask the moderators
some of those may put a couple of candidates at a fix

lol, I bet so

I just hope they don't fudge them and blur them with general like on GD.SE, makes it to easy for candidates to skip over tricky topics

yeah :/

Hang on guys! I know what we really need in a moderator: Someone who represents minorities! I think the BGE users section is under represented, we clearly need a BGE expert! I also think the youth of our site are under represented, I think this moderator should be about 13-14. The bounty givers are under represented, I think this user should give away a lot of bounties. Finally this user should be single, in order to dedicate as much time to the site as possible.
@NoviceInDisguise @David @X-27 @RadishoftheOpera ;D

12:15 AM
that one should get a star, from black hole!

1:08 AM
Just curious, @zeffii @iKlsR did either of you DV this

A: What do you look for in a moderator?

GiantCowFilmsRole Model - Always Moderators set the tone and expectation for a community. A moderator who is rude, incomprehensible, unruly or unintelligent can lower expectations and confuse new users. This applies to all circumstances, chat, meta, main, comments and even other network sites. The moderator ...

@GiantCowFilms o boy. I do not think that would be a good idea.
however it is funny

1:31 AM
@David It was a joke, duh!
you do remember blenderdev, right!
the self proclaimed BGE expert who was single and gave away a bagillion bounties

3 hours later…
4:35 AM
@GiantCowFilms I didn't dv
after-all it sparked a good response
Oh! the Answer?
no, that got an upvote from me
@GiantCowFilms regarding camera shake ?

2 hours later…
6:37 AM
I don't agree that chat participation has much sway @GiantCowFilms , clearing the issues Queues and answering questions is more important. The chat (in my opinion) is more like a watercooler conversation

5 hours later…
11:53 AM
@zeffii Okay thanks, I upovted yours as well, I liked your points and perspective

12:05 PM
@zeffii Between my experencie here and the GD.SE chat, watercooler or not, meaningful decisions and choices are made here. Furthermore our the queues are not so full that moderators can't waste a moment. I still believe the candidates chat activity would be good. Having a diamond next to your name gives you a lot of power and respect. Some users around here could use that beneficially.
However I do think editing, tags, flags and review queue action is #1 in voting, followed closely by good behavior and communication (moderators do need to handle trouble users, there aren't any bad ones I've seen on this site, but I've seen some "bombs" that needed defusing on GD.SE)

GD = Game Development?
hopefully comsos laundromat dvds will come with a supply of car-sickness tablets
just in case the camera shake gets a little much
<hides>
haha

@zeffii Graphic Design
They are the real GD
:P
@zeffii lol

lot's of snobbery in GD

My JJ Abrams jokes was about the fact he always used far to many lens flairs... now if that translates into camera shake owch... star wars is going to feel like saving private ryan....
@zeffii lol
I fit right in ;D

12:22 PM
don't think there are any mods around atm :/
but great to see @brecht still popping his head in :)

Yes
the blender devs can sometimes write answers that litterally no one else can write...

i sometimes write python answers hoping that @ideasman42 will pummel me and give a better answer
always happy to delete mine then

Anyone know of the top of your head how to get the dimensions for serveral objects combined without joining them (There are a lot of objects with alot of modifiers)
@zeffii nice talking to you, I'll be back later

take it ez GCF

1:28 PM
The mighty Gandalf like this addon; must download now . . .
(found him in the comments)

@GiantCowFilms NOOOO!!! He was swallowed by a black hole! people under such gravity should not be aloud to run for moderator!!!!

MeasureIt addon is a must
Visit the BN link I posted, it is really useful!

@GiantCowFilms But, I don't mind your idea of the minorities, I'm as much of a BGE maniac as anyone! (@RadishoftheOpera You might be tough competition if it comes to minorities) Anyway, I'm the perfect choice to fight spam being the SPAMKING-27, because I know the ins and outs of how spam works!

Eyes begin to rotate
perfectly timed!

yah!

1:36 PM
I hate it when you have 50 windows of chrome and lose one with youtube playing....

it looks better in a post

@X-27 Don't even think about using that

Too late, already thought about it...
:-)

Q: WHAT DID I DO? PLEASE HELP!

Pure Epic GamezI brought my blender model into unity3D and when I did so... this happened, can someone at least explain it? I really need this fixed (Depending on how you look at it you'll see inside the certain part... I put it underground to make it more clear!) Clitch

1:48 PM
@NoviceInDisguise Thankyou for posting that addon

Anyone know of the top of your head how to get the dimensions for serveral objects combined without joining them (There are a lot of objects with alot of modifiers)
Solved my problem!
:D

lol
I thought you said the dimensions to the top of your head XD
My eyes trick me when I read really fast

CV
@NoviceInDisguise XD that must have been a weird thought

Yah . . .
My progress on my Steampunk farm environment thingy
Need to make the shed more of a workshop
And I think I'll add a tree off to the right, the skyline is quite bare

My brain just exploded... that is absolutely beautiful... I can already see the colors...
the composition is A+

Thanks :)

1:56 PM
first case of a spam bot linking to SE sites blender.stackexchange.com/q/31708/2217
please cast a delete vote

@David I wonder what that is about....

@NoviceInDisguise that looks great!

It is coming along nicely I think :)

how did you make the wheat?

1:59 PM
I modelled several versions of the grass, then used a hair particle system with random rotation and scale to help break up the symmetry.

one thing I would change, is the ground. It is too flat. That is something that I learned on my out door scenes, even little bumps make a big difference.

Good point! I see how that could make a huge difference

@David I do think they should be very subtle though... to lumpy would ruin the prary feel hes got going

@GiantCowFilms true, but that is in front of a shed, where tractors and rockets drive all day long. All that traffic = not flat.

2:06 PM
@GiantCowFilms of course, I remember.

;D
Just the man for the job
knows the BGE back to front
and hes single to, so he can dedicate his entire life!
(that one still makes me laugh)

@GiantCowFilms only what we have taught him, in answers to his questions.

Its a joke! duh! don't you remeber his profile used to say he was a BGE expert...
I'm deeply concerned you actually think I think its a good idea or believe this stuff

@GiantCowFilms for real? now you have me worried, that you actually thought I did not see that as a joke.

XD
You answered so seriously
Please stand by while we fix @David's and @GiantCowFilms' communication skills

2:12 PM
ok next time I will have to use more NoviceInDisguise lingo DX LOL :) :D

that too

2:28 PM

img for comment :)
why wont BSE let me just drag an image from a location, onto the file open field

2:44 PM
Drag and drop would be awesome!

@zeffii Blend exchange lets you do that ;D

3:28 PM
if only it copied that address to clipboard automatically, or via a button press :)
smame with code snippets on the site
would be neat to have folding functions and line numbers
and a copy button

1 hour later…
4:50 PM
How do you get +1 rep? o.O

@NoviceInDisguise When somebody deletes an answer you down voted
you get back the rep you lost
You could also get it with the right combinations of up and down votes, aka one up on a question and two down... but that is unlikely

@GiantCowFilms Oh! I didn't know that! That is probably what happened.

yah
@NoviceInDisguise Ping!

Pingu
Very cool! Looks great!

Thanks!

5:02 PM
Materials should look great on it with those hard edges and flat surfaces :D

Bevel mod should fix that and add some interest, lighting it will be a blast for sure!

@NoviceInDisguise This guy is actually just to make the blue prints... not the final model
which is why I'm so worried about the accuracy

3 hours later…
8:23 PM

Ah coool!

8:41 PM
You entering the comp?

9:21 PM
which comp? :)

9:54 PM
@zeffii Bit hard to see the bike, I'd use a darker clay shader for either the bike or the background
And more contrast in the lighting

10:10 PM
we have different eyes :)
that's exactly as contrasted as I want it while modeling and test rendering
i guess it could have more contrast,,,
but i've made quite a few renders of the progress using the existing light setup - it's just weird to change it midway

10:27 PM
@zeffii I guess we are very different.... I was just making a suggestion, I can refrain if your always fully satisfied with your results, usually people appreciate advice (at least I do) as often different eyes can pick up issues you failed to notice :D

it's early work in progress, not really worth your time pointing obvious things out

Yes well I figured the render wasn't quite WIP, but never mind...

: ) it's even rougher than what I'd normally show
not that I don't appreciate insights, it's just too early

10:44 PM
okay

just thought you might enjoy the general shape... i think the original design rocks
it's from the 1940's

its interesting....

direct drive!
no chain

ah I was thinking about looks

@GiantCowFilms Different displays make a huge difference.
@zeffii Use an AO pass render, that is what I've been doing

10:51 PM
Yes, I have a huge number of clay render techniques... mostly depends on how much time I want to put into making it sing.

^^ Me too
AO is fast :)

what a boss.

11:16 PM
hehehehe . . . looks so awkward
