@CanadianLuke At 0.2 questions/day, this is one of the less active sites. Could the problem just be that these nomination periods are way too short? I always felt 7 days was not nearly long enough. I mean elections are a very significant event in this network, since elected people become "moderator for life" except in rare circumstances where they choose to drop out, get voted out by the other mods (which I've never heard of happening) or get kicked out by the CMs, which is very rare.
So given how significant elections are, I always though 7 days was not enough (network-wide), so on a site with 0.2 questions/day, could it just be that 7-14 days is not long enough? 0.2 questions/day means there's 1 question every 5 days. If people are coming by every 5 days (I know this isn't a perfect calculation), they might see the election notice once during the 7-day period, or twice during a 14-day period (3 times if we get lucky).
We would then need to hope that in one of those visits to the site, the user would have enough time to look at the election page, and fill out the nomination form (these things take time for people who care about writing well, and a lot of people on Stack Exchange care about writing well!).

I agree. That should be brought up on the main Meta.SE site. Feel free to drop a link in here to it
