@CanadianLuke Sorry I didn't see this right away because there was no @ping. I could write something on Meta, but I'm a bit behind in some other things I have to do (for work) so it will take time. This is exactly why I think elections are being "rushed" and need to go a bit slower. If it happens to fall in a busy week, there's no way I could put together a good nomination in 7 days.

On the other hand the majority of the day-to-day moderating such as handling flags, managing the chat rooms, looking after the review queues, etc. is something that a lot of people can do throughout the day: I look at SE every few minutes or so when I'm taking short breaks from my more mentally taxing work, and coming to SE and responding to a few pings or comments can actually be somewhat relaxing for me and help me to return back to work more energized.

So just because 7 days isn't enough for me to try to answer a long questionnaire and put together a masterpiece candidacy statement, it doesn't mean I can't moderate! Of course this site has no questionnaire and no competing nominations, so it should be relatively straightforward, but unfortunately I haven't participated much on this site anyway.
