@ChrisForrence How about ?
Also, what other questions could use that tag? If there's only one question that would fit, then we might not really need the tag yet.

2:37 AM
Alright, I'll check tomorrow to see if any other questions might fit.

@jmort253 - Here's another possible question:

Q: Freelance Consulting while Employed

user666What options do IT consultants have if they're interested in expanding their skillset with engagements outside of their corporate employer? I'm interested in the fast-paced lifestyle of freelance consulting and think I could grow a lot from landing some after-hours gigs, but I'd like to do it ...

I'm kind of wondering if is even the accurate term for a tag

@ChrisForrence Some questions: How valuable is the tag? Why would we add it? What would be a good description of the types of questions that should have it? Is there a better tag that would more accurately cover the topics and be more likely to be something people would search for?
Hope this helps.
.... but that
that would seem too noob
less expert
part time doesn't always imply new
is there an official industry standard term for one who freelances on the side?

Moonlighter?

Moonlighter sounds promising

But less expert, again

11:28 PM
(Hey @Hiroto, spreaker.com, thought you might be interested in this.)

And I don't think there is a formal one- or two-word name for a 9-5'er by day (redundant, I know), freelancer by night

we would definitely want something that sounds expert.... Great Twitter or Reddit topic maybe??? "Help us find the right name for the person who freelances on the side for freelancing.stackexchange.com)
kill 2 birds... promote the site... name a tag... all in a days work :)

Haha, sounds like a plan
I mean, we do need more visitors

@jmort253 You got a 2/3 mod vote, so that's enough to say go ahead :P

@ChrisForrence reddit.com/domain/freelancing.stackexchange.com is where I've been sharing links. The "freelance" subreddit seems to be pretty friendly for links. there might be a better subreddit for questions... or it could be a meta question you share :)
Then there's always Twitter :D

11:32 PM
I don't use social media... Stackexchange is as social as I get online

I can ask a few developers I know on Twitter; dunno how many of them freelance, but they might have ideas
@jmort253 - I did not know Reddit had a /domain/ part
Ya learn something new every day

@ChrisForrence Yeh I was blown away when I saw that.
If you ever do share links, be sure to use the "Share" links below our questions and answers.
If the link gets enough views, you earn badges...

I keep on trying for that Advertising badge ;)

and regardless of whether you like badges or not... it makes the site look healthy to see those awarded to folks.

Hmm
@chrisforrence Is that different from a moonlighter? The most used example is cops that moonlight as a security guard off duty

11:39 PM
So.... it is possible to overthink this.

Also got a reply for "datman" (I'm guessing in reference to Batman)

If you find a name that sounds reasonably well and that most freelancers could positively identify with it, then it will probably work.
We can always change it later. :)

That's true!

moonlighting definitely sounds better than part-time or getting-started.

I might go ahead and start tagging as (or if I can give you a list, that way it doesn't have to sit in the suggested edits queue)

11:42 PM
and moonlighting implies you're doing it yourself, whereas I associate part time with like, delivering pizzas or something.
If you're not sure, you could create a meta post too and see if you get a response, but unless someone has better ideas, that sounds good to me.

I'll create a meta post (I also need to make one to call for tag wikis). I forget; do meta posts count towards site commitment statistics (for the Area 51 badge), or is it too late for that?
Haha
From Twitter: @chrisforrence Probably overworked?

Make that a 3/3 mod vote

Great! @jmort253, you're allowed to do it :P lol

@ChrisForrence I don't think they count....

@jmort253 I'll have a looksie at that (though iHeartRadio once really, really annoyed me when i was talking to their developer support)

11:50 PM
As for committments, check to see if the site still shows up in your "Committed to" section in Area 51.
It's a node-webkit app.
I'm using the framework for a project... the music demo made me think the platform is something you'd be interested in @Hiroto

Ah

Ah, it doesn't show up in the Committed To section. Ah well. I didn't even want that badge anyway!

Freelancing doesn't even show up for me O.o

@Hiroto Mine comes up as fulfilled
Minus all the non-existant CSS

11:54 PM
load unsafe scripts :p
(httpseverywhere added *.stackexchange.com to its list)
