Hello!
@user334732 Hi, what is the idea for that chato room?
22:25
@gimusi hi. i wondered if there was more we could do to make new users feel welcome and to explain to them what is expected e.g. not to ask PSQs etc.
Sometimes I think they ask and are hit with a deluge of down and close votes and have no idea why.
Then when they correct the issues we could work together to reopen or undelete questions.
22:41
@user334732 I totally agree and I think it could be very useful for the comunity! Ok let work togheter for that!
I already exhort always new contributors to improve their answer and sometimes they react very well. Here is an example for a great result obtained today.
At first the asker presented only a short answer but after a guide he succeed to solve the entire question by himself and add his work editing the question.
So I think that we need to follow the "New Contributor" policy more closely to involve them in a proper way. Suddenly closure and deletion are clearly totally ineffective!
I also was thinking to create a similr chat room! :)
Hi @JoséCarlosSantos!
What is your thought about that new idea?
22:58
@gimusi Hi. This is an interesting idea. But I think that a typical new user isn't even aware of the existence of chatrooms.
@JoséCarlosSantos Yes I know and moreover they need 20 rep point to get access to that.
Those are 2 big issues we'll have to deal with. But I think that it is worth to try something different form automatic closure and deletion.
@gimusi I know more than I do. I wasn't aware of that 20 rep point rule.
I think we need to try andonly when an new contributor doesn't show any effort to improve we can proceed with closure and deletion.
Martin told us today that.
That's indeed a big problem with that.
@JoséCarlosSantos More details here
23:23
@gimusi I'll think about it. But a new user seldom has 20 rep points.
@JoséCarlosSantos Thanks! We should work by comments at first. We'll see bye.
@gimusi Bye.
