@halirutan I have finally released the first version of MathematicaREPL which can evaluate Wolfram code in Intellij Idea. If you want, you can try it. github.com/unchartedworks/MathematicaREPL/releases/tag/v0.1.0
There could be bugs, at least I have tried it on two computers, it works.

The start of June brought the disappointing news that we’d have to wait longer for Java 9, so July and August news won’t be all about the big release.  However, there’s still plenty of Java 9 news, the usual handful of … Continue reading →

@halirutan - tried your plugin for the first time today - I like it, but miss one thing from eclipse. If I'm making a Module, Block, etc, and I type a new variable I can quickly localize it to the enclosing Module by selecting the work and hitting Cmd-1 and selecting the right macro
is there a way to do that in IntelliJIDEA?
@JasonB I'm working on this. It is simple but I have to cover some cases. Which version are you running?
I assume the most recent version, downloaded the community version of idea today, and got your plugin through the settings/search method
Can you check Settings -> Plugins -> Mathematica Support?
version 2.4.2
Basically, it should work like this:
What you have to do is to go over the symbol.
Then, a lightbulb appears. Hit Alt+Enter and you see the intention that is possible
But remember, it's just a test currently. I wanted to see how I can make many of those useful things. Don't expect it to work.

Well - seems to work - thanks! Not sure now whether to switch only for certain projects or move the whole workspace from eclipse. My workspace in eclipse is so bloated, its RAM usage is very high
@JasonB Well, the big downside is still the missing debugger, create doc or run code.
All this is hidden in WorkBench and not documented.
From the editor point of view, I think the plugin does a pretty decent job, but you have to look up all its features.
Yeah - that proposal to make workbench open source went down like a lead balloon
@JasonB That was one big hope of mine.
A good start for using IntelliJ with Mathematica is my Wiki here and some vids linked from the main webpage.
Great, will take a look
Have a nice weekend!
@JasonB Don't hesitate to reach out if you have questions.
Have a nice weekend too.
