Welcome to Stack Overflow. Please read How to Ask and ask a question. You have shown us some code and explained what happens when you run it; but why is that result wrong? What should happen instead? Please also read stackoverflow.com/help/minimal-reproducible-example, and note that this is not a discussion forum - we are not interested in your level of experience, and we also don't do open-ended improvements etc. on code. (For the latter, try codereview.stackexchange.com for that; but note they have their own question-asking standards.) — Karl Knechtel 16 secs ago

I’m voting to close this question because it is about improving a working program, which is more suited to Code Review. — Raymond Chen 32 secs ago

William Bradleyeveryone. I started programming Kotlin in IntelliJ IDEA today. We could try teaching people good programming choices, not poor ones. This would never get through a code review. — Andy 25 secs ago

Note that on Code Review this wouldn't be on topic either. The code contains to many unknown elements and unexplained logic, making it unclear what actually happens, let alone how to rewrite it. — Gert Arnold 57 secs ago

@pmg, the question needs work before it's suited to Code Review. You should have pointed the asker at A guide to Code Review for Stack Overflow users, as some things are done differently over there - e.g. we need a good description of the purpose of the code to give context, and question titles should simply say what the code does (the question is always, "How can I improve this?"). It's important that the code works correctly; include the unit tests if possible. — Toby Speight 22 secs ago
Before you post at Code Review, make sure to read A guide to Code Review for Stack Overflow users, as some things are done differently over there - e.g. question titles should simply say what the code does, as the question is always, "How can I improve this?". Be sure that the code works correctly; include your unit tests if possible. You'll likely get some suggestions on making it more efficient, easier to read, and better tested. — Toby Speight 35 secs ago

Are you allowed to use sets? If so you could create an object for each word instance and add them to the set, then on each time you further encounter them, increment a field inside the word object to track the frequency. You'd have to include a string or int array to track the lines they occured on. This post gives a fairly good demonstration of a similar idea but with maps instead of sets codereview.stackexchange.com/questions/48198/…Conor Timlin 28 secs ago
That’s a separate question from the one you initially asked. It’s probably a better fit for our Code Review site, since that’s a bit more subjective. — templatetypedef 40 secs ago

Q: Bank database 3NF normalisation

barrybeers1998I am practicing SQL and using mariaDB to create a very basic UK banking application database, the main goal was to try and improve my understanding of 3NF by normalizing my table to full 3NF. However, I need a second pair of eyes on it and see if it is truly in 3NF or if I am messing up somewhere...

Q: Can we make a worse automatic card shuffling machine?

N3buchadnezzarSo I've been droodling on a blackjack project, and one of the issues we need to solve is how to shuffle the cards. I've implemented a method that simulates hand shuffling (E.g split the shoe (either 2, 4, 6, 8 decks) into two heaps, and then merge a handful of cards together alternating between o...
