Q: Emulate Java 8 predicate chaining in JavaScript

Mr. PolywhirlI am trying to emulate Java 8's predicate chaining in JavaScript. So far it works, but I think I will run into issues if I pass a Predicate object to the constructor. Is there a more efficient way to write this? Furthermore, I had to create get and run methods to return the predicate so that is c...

Q: Python code that has some divergences in regards to logger, printing statistics, writing of files, file paths and docstring

LexlecterI think I have corrected most of the divergences but I am still concerned about docstring especially. Asking for “best” without specifying any criteria, also does not make much sense. From a person who’s profile says “laravel developer”, I expect they would at least present some working version first; then a discussion about better alternatives could be considered. (Although here is not really the proper place for that either, that would be more a case for codereview.stackexchange.com. Whether such a triviality warrants much discussion though in the first place, debatable …) — CBroe 1 min ago

You really should post your full code to the StackExchange Code Review Q&A, as that is what you are asking about in general. — postanote 18 secs ago
If you just want feed back on working code, then try a site like Code Review instead. There doesn't seem to be a specific programming question here that's appropriate for Stack Overflow. What's "proper" is really a matter of opinion. It all depends on the specific needs of your project. — MrFlick 30 secs ago

Old questions aren't a good indication of what's currently considered on-topic. That was before places like Code Review existed. — MrFlick 16 secs ago
The PS thing was an FYI. Use what you have. As this. [just ask what is the better way and how to use it properly]. You are asking for an opinion, which will vary widely amongst folks, and as per the SO rules, off-topic [Opinion-based This question is likely to be answered with opinions rather than facts and citations. It should be updated so it will lead to fact-based answers.]. Hence my reason for suggesting to post to the Code Review Q&A. — postanote 12 secs ago
@postanote Without proper context, this question would not be well-received on Code Review. I definitely advise against posting this there as-is. — Mast 34 secs ago
Consider putting your code on CodeReview in any case. Some things: 1. If it is meant as an abstract class, I'd strongly suggest that you make every method either virtual or final. In C++, if you have a pointer to base class with underlying child class and invoke a method which is not virtual, you invoke that of the base class. Second, the tilde (~) signifies the destructor, not constructor. Third, in C++, I'd strongly advise using headers and sources. — Aziuth 25 secs ago

I see @Peilonrayz updated this answer ~3.75 years ago for clarity - is it worthy of upvotes ?
I guess the accepted answer by steenslag as well as the answer by tokland imply that change but don't explicitly state it

@SᴀᴍOnᴇᴌᴀ To be clear, I edited it to delete the other answer. I don't think it's an 'off-topic' answer but I also don't think it's worth upvotes.

@SᴀᴍOnᴇᴌᴀ It's quite an obvious modification, but it would've been nice if at least one of the answers mentioned it explicitly I guess.

Seems like a question that's better suited for CodeReviewtrincot 49 secs ago

9:31 PM
This is largely opinion based and therefore probably better suited to Code Review. Its also more concerned with how to structure a particular utility, not a React project as a whole which if you've been googling strucutres you should have some idea of. We can't suggest much without seeing the code of AlertProvider, Alert and useAlert too - if they form a 'single entity' (i.e. are not individually reusable) then it sounds like you just have one component and not three different utilities. — lawrence-witt 18 secs ago

@Peilonrayz okay - given that question has had at least 2 low quality answers I opted to protect it - is that okay? or should that only be done when low quality answers come in more frequently? Maybe that doesn't qualify as the scenario described in the help center: "...Questions should be protected when they are attracting poor answers from new users that exceed the volume which can be moderated in a timely manner...."
though that verbiage/wording appears to be the same as it is on SO

@SᴀᴍOnᴇᴌᴀ Honestly I don't really know when the 'correct' time to protect is. It's rarely used. I've done similar to you - two bad answers and put a protect on it. I wouldn't worry about it. I'm confident you'd know a 'good enough time' to protect.

9:49 PM
This sounds like a question of best practice in the general case for code that already works for you. If so, then after reading their help page and making adjustments to your question as needed, I'd suggest you take this to CodeReview.SE. — scohe001 24 secs ago

@gjmemel Here :). I'll note though, I shouldn't really have answered this, as it's not really on topic. For improving working code, Code Review is a better place, although they require minimal reproducible examples of code, along with context. In the future, just be aware that "Looking for suggestions" questions likely won't be well received. — Carcigenicate 12 secs ago
