Q: code efficiency for project euler problem 44

Po Chen LiuThis is my code for solving the pentagonal number problem on Project Euler. Pentagonal numbers are generated by the formula, Pn=n(3n−1)/2. The first ten pentagonal numbers are: 1, 5, 12, 22, 35, 51, 70, 92, 117, 145, ... It can be seen that P4 + P7 = 22 + 70 = 92 = P8. However, their difference...

I have a set of methods which require the same three arguments (x,y and z). I pass them together in a class (actually a C++ struct) to get a cleaner code base (in my opinum).

Some functions just require two of these three arguments. What is the recommended approach for these functions, to pass the class with all three arguments and not use one of the arguments, or pass the arguments as two separate parameters?

@NiclasJonsson this seems like a judgement call ..
either you destructure the struct or you don't. Either way this isn't enough information :/

Turns out, I mis-spelled my password when I created it. And I now have no idea what it is.

Sad day. :(
Use a password recovery disk. You can download an ISO that can be burnt to a disk that can reset the admin password.

Kaz
@EBrown Really? Can you point me to a good link?

3:23 PM
@Kaz Been years since I have done it, and I'm not at home to check which one I use, but I believe this one does the trick: pogostick.net/~pnh/ntpasswd/bootdisk.html
That looks like the one I use: you create a bootable CD/DVD/USB disk that you boot to (hence "bootable disk"), and then run through a few command screens to reset it.
I have a copy on a permanent disk at my house that I used to use, but I haven't needed it in literally two or three years.

I normally just ask my dad for his USB when I do that, I think he uses Hiren's BootCD. It looks as easy as EBrown's one aswell

knoppix and rescatux both have that

@Peilonrayz Hiren's has additional features, but it's a good tool as well. I didn't even know Hiren's existed when I started doing password recovery (which was literally in my early teens).
@Vogel612 Yep, but for a one-off situation I think a small several MB download and burn is more efficient than a several hundred MB download and burn. :P

true that ...
rescatux is pretty small tho

@Kaz take a look here howtogeek.com/222262/… the second option looks like it could work

Thanks Murph for the answer but the coding standards in my company wont let me try the pointer technique. My actual need to use a procedure defined inside SE046R in SE045RM comes from instruction post code review by a senior resource. So whenever there is an SQL Error in SE045RM after execution of an SQL statement (Sqlcod not zero or not 100), the instruction is to use the SQLError procedure already defined but in SE046R. But this wouldn't be possible by using methods other than what you have defined above, I understand? So as an alternate, would moving the SQLError defintion to SE045RM work? — user3311539 5 secs ago
