While the code you present does have the same behaviour, it's an entirely different ballpark of complex. I don't like how you've inlined both extracted functions, while rewriting them significantly without any comment. I think it would help OP a lot if you could be significantly more explicit in your rewriting process — Vogel612 10 secs ago

@IanFako The code is only suitable for code review if it works, whereas the title is currently asking "how to do XY". It therefore needs at least a new title and a new description. See codereview.meta.stackexchange.com/questions/5777/… for more information. — Zeta 38 secs ago
@MarekR Not pretty is bad enough on its own, it is harder to read and is pretty much undoable once the array size got bigger. Other problems include it throwing away type information on the arrays, not stating this array should be uniform in size, potentially wrecking your cache as the arrays may or may not be contiguous, and having a another chance for pointers to dangle. Why would you not use multidimensional arrays? Would you let this pass in a code review? — Passer By 15 secs ago

Q: Using buttons to trigger a Sub Procedure in Excel, this will split/copy data into a second sheet in the same workbook

C.NugI currently have an Excel workbook which pulls data from a website that lists sign language interpreters from here: https://www.illinois.gov/idhhc/licensure/Pages/Regions.aspx There are 7 different regions, or tables, I pull from. The data is put into Sheet1, Columns A, C, E, G, I, K, M - all s...

Q: OpenCV numpy image tranformation efficiency

M LeonardI am doing a few image transformations - resize, offset, and crop. I am doing all these operations separately, but I feel like they can be better combined to get a speed improvement. This is happening hundreds of times in a loop, so I am looking to optimize this code. Any suggestions would be gr...

Anyone care to chime in on the on-topic-ness of codereview.stackexchange.com/q/179878/32521 ?
The code is complete and runs
it's been obfuscated a bit, so it looks generic

@Shepmaster any Rusteceans, etc.?

@SamOnela I'd call myself a Rustacean, if that's what you are asking. I don't know if one needs to be such to fully judge the on-topic-ness :-)

@Shepmaster Meh, I'd consider it fine. OP stated "only the names have been changed" (presumably to protect the innocent) so it should be fair game.

That's kind of my opinion as well, but it is pretty sparse. I can see how it'd fit in a bigger program.
I have trouble telling on-topic when it's not a program that actually runs.
The concept of a code review on code I can't run is strange to me :-)

I think it might be stub code, but meh.

I second that^
Also asking about best practices in a generic way

Q: Cannot output results the way I want to

Will McKenzieThis is the barebones of my program. I stripped other things since I know how to add it. The problem I'm having is within the while loop. If I place the variables there then it doesn't work, but I need the variables declared. I feel the way I wrote everything within the while loop is wrong. impo...

After inspection, I think you should post this in Code Review. — Theraot 25 secs ago

@SamOnela Don't edit off topic questions.
I approved it because it isn't closed yet, but if it gets closed before it gets approved, then it gets approved, it gets sent into the reopen queue.

@Hosch250 okay I felt the OP should learn about MD formatting... but in the future I will just mention that in a comment

It's fine, somebody else approved it.

Q: HashMap used to store DateTime

GovsI have a scenario where I need to save string as a key and date time as value into a hash map. Also, I need to remove strings older than 24 hours. At the moment the HashMap is implemented as below. HashMap<String, DateTime> sessions = new HashMap<>(); //Adding to the HashMap sessions.put(sessio...
