Q: Illumination as a way of instantiating new objects

This allows us to hide our new keyword behind a dependency on an Illuminator, allowing us to much more easily test our code. Yes, a little bit of reflection is involved, bu...

See IEEE Std 1076-2008 11.6 Concurrent signal assignment statements "A concurrent signal assignment statement represents an equivalent process statement that assigns values to signals." Other concurrent statement sections will describe how they are elaborated for simulation/synthesis. All elaborated models simulate by execution of sequential statements. How requires understanding VHDL's simulation cycle. Free Range VHDL may not be a sufficient reference. It is indeed off-topic to ask for general code reviews. SO's for specific programming problems. If the review is what you're looking for check out Code Review but make sure it's on-topic there too. The SO community isn't particularly good at judging what should go there; or so I've been told :) — ChiefTwoPencils 48 secs ago

In Germany there's the concept of "Werkstudent". They are only allowed to work at most 20 hours a week

A: What's a Zombie? And what are the many other memes of Code Review?

Vogel612Meme: Monking Originator: Morwenn Cultural Height: The 2nd Monitor Background: A morning greeting to the Monkey doing his monkey-business, in other words: monking Examples: A small chat search Variations: Monkernoon, Monkevening, Monknight, ... Important is only that it begins with Monk... ;...

I also agree with Scott that this needs to be moved to codereview. You should post the question at codereview and then delete this one as reposted questions are not allowed. Also you typically get lengthy answers at codereview. — Guy Coder 36 secs ago

Might I ask what you guys use to compile and write code?

@N3buchadnezzar compiler, IDE
also, language dependant

I use pycharm for python ^^

@pacmaninbw Yes.

Been using IntelliJ IDEA for Java, Texmaker for latex and Sublime 3 for python.

I should learn Java
but I'm scared

2:00 PM
Was wondeirng if I should just install a few more plugins and compile everything with Sublime. Or compile everything from the commandline.
I guess the setup I have now works. Just a bit cumbersome switching forth and back.

it depends what your preferences are
just do what makes you comfortable when writing

Yeah. Trying to figure out what that is.

I follow @MathiasEttinger link. I like it.
Now I'm just wondering how to get my Zombies killed without posting a bounty.

@pacmaninbw How about posting a bounty

1) too long
2) makefile blehhhh

2:03 PM
@Pimgd What's wrong with CMake?

The 1% of CodeReview needs to offer their rep to kill zombies.

I saw there are a couple of challanges in each month. In June (if I remember correctly) there was a monopoly one. Are there any places where the codes are submitted ? ^_^

nothing, it's the makefile that's blehhh to review
because it's like... reviewing xml or something

@syb0rg, he's just commenting on my hand written makefile.

@Dex'ter That's this month's challenge actually
@pacmaninbw Ew, hand-written?

2:04 PM
@Dex'ter Just post your code for review

@Dex'ter Code Review with the tag

ok, great. Now I know ^_^ Thanks a lot

@syb0rg you commented on why didn't I use CMake on the question.
I want to get 1000 rep before I post a bounty.

@pacmaninbw Ah, yes I see now

as for 3), have a tiny review

2:10 PM
@GuyCoder - ok I will repost my question to codereview. Thank's for feedback. — Homorozeanu George 33 secs ago

@Pimgd What is a tiny review.

@N3buchadnezzar This contradicts the message you replied to.

@pacmaninbw What's the question?

But cool joke.

Q: Must answers be limited to the code only?

cottsakDoes the feedback for a Code Review question have to be limited to the scope of the explicit code cited, or can we infer direction and context and comment on that also? For example, in this answer, I attempt to dig a little deeper than just the code on screen. Is this appropriate? I kinda think ...

2:13 PM
@pacmaninbw it used to be a tiny review
but I found more stuff to shoot at
your code looks good at first sight
but in detailed inspection it's full of weird

I'll go with weird. :)

no man
== true is just weird

Q: How to refactor my recursive implementation of a 'zip'-function in F#?

Homorozeanu GeorgeI'm learning F# from Tomas Petricek's "Real-World Functional Programming" book. As suggested at one point in the book, I started implementing a zip function using a recursive sequence expression. I'm not very happy with my implementation and I would like to know how F# devs would refactor my impl...

I just edited this title to Recursive implementation of a zip function in F#

the best practice makes this question off-topic at Stack Overflow (opinion-based, and hard to answer because it's up to you to weigh the trade-offs of both methods). any other way to optimize this query? Is a better question to ask here, but even then one may argue that CodeReview is a better fit. — Gert Arnold 27 secs ago

I did mention it was my first C# program. I ran into issues with not having == true in a couple of places.

What kind of issues?

You gotta stay true brah

@pacmaninbw maybe if you have nullable booleans

I'll look into that.

2:23 PM
@Dex'ter you're on a spree

@Majiick why ? :P

I just had some free time. I wish I could do it more often

Haha, I have loads of free time since it's summer but I can only review basic questions

Q: Phishing Project Assessment

throck95Coming back for another look at my project after I've reworked a few of the key points made in my previous post here. So far, I've rewritten most of my code to address SQL Injection. I've created a class called DBManager to connect to my database and then create prepared statements and execute t...

even if you have free time, you actually don't

@CaptainObvious posted a tiny review (1 point)

Thanks @Pimgd I'll see if I can get a few more answers to address more issues before I close it out

the downside of quick reviews is that it can look like the question is answered =/

@Pimgd ik, but i figure if I don't mark it as the answer I might find a few more responses ;)
key word: might

2:41 PM
@Dex'ter Actually this month's is the monopoly one!

This question is a better fit for Code Review. — zero323 43 secs ago

@throck95 One of the issues with many small reviews is that most people don't like repeating what's already been reviewed, so you might end up with a bunch of tiny reviews that as a whole make up an "actual" review.

@user2296177 yep I understand. It's getting some responses and that's all that matters

Our code review team would prefer not to have the script use ShellExecute to open to link, but I'm not sure if that is possible. I'm only a novice at VBA — jsaranovic 32 secs ago

@CaptainObvious Is it a Phishing controller or an anti-phishing controller?

@Mast isn't it obvious?

Q: A JavaScript framework for modular and scalable SPAs as per Nicholas Zakas talk on the subject

Paulo PhagulaAfter watching the famous talk by Nicholas Zakas talk on Scalable JavaScript Application Architecture I decided to go and implement a small framework that abides by his principles so I could reuse on other projects. And as I was progressing through development I also found facebook's Flux and en...

Thanks for the comment. I tried to explain the report as best as I could. I should note that the functionality and accuracy works 100% I guess I was looking for more of a code review. I didn't realize that there was a separate stack exchange for that. — Sam Marion 28 secs ago

@throck95 Congratulations on hitting HNQ.
@EBrown Do we have 'How do I' questions with punny titles?

@Mast Probably.
