3:01 PM
exactly.

Congratulations!

there's only 31 people (including me) that have this or a better grade
that puts me in the 90th percentile, mabe even the 95th

Awesome.

and nobody seems to have gotten full marks, from a quick overview

You are graded based on how the class does?
And you can see other students' grades?

3:03 PM
no, each exam is graded independently

Oh.
Then how can you see if each anyone has full marks?

and the grades are announced on a black board.
you can only see Student Registration Number and Grade

That seems terribly archaic

and since nobody has a 1.0 grade, (which is 100%) I assume nobody has full marks

Which class is this?
And what level are you studying at, Masters?

3:04 PM
Programming and Software Development
currently Bachelors, I just finished my first semester. nothing fancy

Oh, I thought you were older than me.

this course was basically "Java for beginners" and "introduction to OOP and CS"
@Hosch250 IIRC I actually am...

I had to take a similar class.
@Vogel612 Oh, you didn't just go straight in to school?

no. I had ~3 years of formal non-cs education

OK, cool.
Then you are likely a year or two older.

3:08 PM
I'd guess a year, mostly since I skipped one grade and only had 8 years of "higher education" before Uni
so I made my "A-Levels" (as you'd call them in Britain) when I was 17
@DanPantry you have no idea how much paper the university goes trough

@Vogel612 e-mails are a thing

@DanPantry ha ha ha

My birthday put me on the young side of HS, so I graduated when I was 17 too.

there's a small problem with that.
The grades are not final

@Hosch250 same

3:11 PM
because there's "Klausureinsicht", where you can check against the corrections and request revisions

The best part is that I did quite a bit more school than my siblings, who won't/didn't graduate until they were 18.

so the grades are still bound to change and as such they are just preliminary

Sup folks

also incredibly much of that is going into the paper archives

@Vogel612 Our grades are fixed unless we ask our professor for a review grounded on some facts.

3:12 PM
@Pimgd I'll be moving back home tomorrow, I promise we'll play then

And we use Moodle, which manages everything electronically.

oh I wish
my university uses a rag rug of at least 4 different applications for managing courses, grades and coursework
additionally probably every second course has their own website where they put assignments, corrections and lecture notes

If the code is in a compiling state then it can be posted on Code Review SE. Otherwise here on SO is best place to tackle each issue separately. — Morgan 1 min ago

I believe that is called a clusterf***

it was really funny when the exam was finished and they got the exams, but nobody was allowed to leave the room until they had counted to make sure they actually had all the exams
also German law mandates that official documents must be kept for a certain period of time
and exams are included in "official documents"
so much for archaic :)
</rant>
now I just need to find out why the carp my application just terminates without any proper error message or request for termination

3:20 PM
sounds like it is being koi. make sure it isn't clownfishing about.
but if you get it working you'll be having a whale of a time.
another fish pun

Kaz
@DanPantry If I could, I'd star all 3, but alas I only had the one left.

This isn't code review, — Noelkd 20 secs ago

@Kaz the only stars I am interested in are starfish.

@Vogel612 Same here, but most exams are electronic.

Q: Anyway To Simplify This For Loop?

ShinyMKSo I have the following code made to output the following: Code: <?php //Get 4 Feedback from Database; $st = fetch("SELECT username,feedback,feedback_type,feedback_date FROM purchases WHERE feedback IS NOT NULL AND game = :game AND platform = :platform ORDER BY feedback_date DESC LIMIT 4","un...

@CaptainObvious Anyway To Simplify This Title?

wow great...
it seems my Application has gotten the wonderful idea to just quit on me...

Because who doesn't love SQL injection PHP questions
@Vogel612 It hertz (52 whale) :(
Don't worry though, there are 10,000 more applications under the sea.

@Kaz starmie is beautiful :D

okay I stopped it from quitting. now it only looks crap
but that's fixable

Maybe this is a question for code review seeing as your code already works. — K. Menyah 5 secs ago

Time to write unit tests.

@Hosch250 SHE LIVES IN A PINEAPPLE UNDER THE SEA

In a pineapple?

3:30 PM
Yes

Never heard of that. I thought she lived in her daddy's castle.

It's pretty much a pineapple
if you look at it and squint a bit
2

OK.

3:48 PM
@Hosch250 thanks. now I have that song stuck in my head (and no I didn't click that link) =)

caffeine crash
monking @Mat'sMug

LOL.

monking!

monking!
must sound excited.
caffeine withdrawal hurts.
Do professional programmers end up consuming so much?

yes

3:49 PM
:(

I've had 6 today

@EasterlyIrk i don't drink that much
@Quill is drinking so much because he is 17, not because of the fact he is a professional programmer (Though he is)
;-)
hooray, Nodejs just crashed because OOM.

It depends on your lifestyle, I suppose
a few of my colleagues have a tea during work

don't have job
am 13, not 17.

a coffee on stressful days or meeting days (same thing ;) )

3:51 PM
probably shouldn't kill my brain like this

oh yeah you need coffee during meeting days
otherwise you'd fall asleep

Really that bad?

I only drank so much today cause I didn't have my headphones at work

Meetings are usually utterly boring

imagine sitting in the same lesson
for 9 hours

3:52 PM
wow

that's a meeting day

except the teacher talks about the weather for 8 and a half of those hours

can't you start a petition to get rid of them?

the walls turn to blood
@EasterlyIrk yeah, but then you'd need a meeting about that petition.

is that what happened to @Vogel612's hand?

3:52 PM
French Revolution! Heads start to roll.

@DanPantry 1 more for no more. :P
@Hosch250 are you french?

Of course not.

Unfortunately meetings are pretty critical. :) You need meetings. Even Slack isn't going to completely supplement meetings

Are you a dog?

*snort*

3:53 PM
Of course not.

@DanPantry then abolish the weather part.

@EasterlyIrk I am not about to tell the person who decides whether or not I have a job to shut up. :P

@Hosch250 @AlexA. is and he shows his true form on his profile pic.
@DanPantry true...

I'm a junior, so I don't go to the meetings. which is both a gift and an insult ;)

Probably should learn that for future reference.

3:54 PM
@Quill ಠ_ಠ I envy you

except I get given tasks with no spec

we had a meeting today which ended in people playing table tennis for 30 minutes because it was overscheduled. But we were not allowed to leave.
@Quill you think that's something that only happens when you're a junior? oh hun

I literally had no technical spec for one of my projects and wrote in Python. When I turned it in, they told me to rewrite it in C#

@DanPantry Read your chat bio and think again.

which was a great decision

3:55 PM
rofl

@EasterlyIrk It's a joke :P

@Quill You should probably insist on going to the meetings

@DanPantry And here I thought that I finally found a like mind... :P

Monking @all

@Vogel612 meh. I don't go meeting days anymore anyway
@Mast monking

Kaz
3:58 PM
2,212 company numbers found. 157 to go. It's only taken 2 days.

@EasterlyIrk ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Hello @Mast

Kaz
On the plus side, it's given me an excuse to have my headphones on loud for 2 whole days and not be disturbed.

I just 270000 on my scraper, and they all have to matched soon
I probably shouldn't say that publicly :p
data matching sucks
