Just giving them a quick skim, looks like Lifesaver (checkmark answer on a former tumbleweed) and Maverick (answer a -3 question that then goes on to +3) will be the hardest ones to get on CR. Not counting whatever the secret hats are ^^

Q: Zero-Initializing Large Dynamically Allocated Arrays of Double

David BowlingArrays of double can be zero-initialized with the { 0 } initializer, which works even on systems that have a binary representation of 0.0 that is not all bits zero. While the IEEE 754 representation of floating point zero is all bits zero, the C Standard makes no guarantees about the representati...

I have a 1-move lookahead working.
Time to make it look ahead 5 moves.
Or maybe I'll wait until tomorrow.
That is going to use Tasks to make the loodahead parallel.
Anyone want to discuss the UI upgrade?
Right now, it opens to a new game, with a "New game" button on the side.
I'm considering whether to have it open to a general "profile"-type page, or leave it opening to a new game page. I'm leaning toward the later, at least for now.
Then, should I use a pop-up-style control for the new name, or should I have all the settings on the side?

Huh, didn't know that.
I never got my swag from the 10 million questions milestone either.

Also, I need to figure out how to get the settings page up, and set things like the preferred variant, theme, etc up.
Also, time controls, and rematches for two-player.

This question seems more suited to codereview.stackexchange.comshash678 just now
Are you asking how this code works and for help understanding its use, or are you asking how to improve the code? If the first, then it's offtopic on Code Review and Stack Overflow. If it's the second, and the code is your code (not someone else's) and you want to get help improving it, then it might be on topic at Code Review. Note that you do indicate it was referenced from somewhere else, so I'm not sure it's even your code. — Thomas Ward 21 secs ago

lol @Duga that was in reply to the other one about "This question seems more suited..." xD

2:22 AM
@Duga RBA...

yup.
I think they didn't like the fact that I called them out about how "understanding" the code would be offtopic, and improving the code that isn't theirs isn't on topic either xD

@Vogel612 There are three last I saw. There is a Meta Stack Exchange post about it.
@Mat'sMug I finished DI in .NET.
I agree that interception is reasonably OK. However, I realized that ICommand isn't a typical interface.
That is made so it is easy to use Commands with the framework, not an interface that defines a specific behavior (like an IRepository interface) that defines a behavior that will be more/less the same if different implementations are swapped out (like if we had a SqlRepository and an XmlRepository--we could swap them out and get the same bevhavior--just different storage techniques).

@skiwi I guess it's a "put your toe in until you feel comfortable" versus "throw the baby in the deep end, and if they live, they're know how to swim" thing.

@Donald.McLean I'm doing the later.
Or at least, I'm trying to.

I would hate to be trying to deliver production code under those circumstances.

@Blorgbeard - did you even read the json ? There are no properties with a ? in the name -- only in the output code due to the possibility of that field being a null response. The output is correct (in the concept of placing a ? for a null/or), but it put the ? in the wrong spot (invalid c#). — Samuel Jackson 42 secs ago

@EBrown it turns out that the compiler uses string.Concat under the hood for string concatenation with the + operator.
var foo = Console.ReadLine();
var str =  foo + "bar";
compiles as

@Kaz Yes, exactly.

1:59 PM
IL_0000:  nop
IL_0001:  call        System.Console.ReadLine
IL_0006:  stloc.0     // foo
IL_0007:  ldloc.0     // foo
IL_0008:  ldstr       "bar"
IL_000D:  call        System.String.Concat
IL_0012:  stloc.1     // str

I wonder why should the + operation be inefficient if the Concat is its preferred alternative
and yet the IL uses it

@t3chb0t concat is used in the case like you showed, creating one new string object. If you do a str = str + foo e.g in a loop the creation of the new string objects over and over is the inefficient part.

IL_0017:  ldc.i4.2
IL_0018:  blt.s       IL_000A
IL_001A:  ret

Sure, but the result of foo+=foo will result in a new string object each time
That will eat the performance

@t3chb0t That will likely be unrolled
It's funny though that it has to keep track of i even though you don't do anything with it, but perhaps in a more aggressive optimization it just ignores it

2:42 PM
@Kaz and done, now BTW.Work

@skiwi is there another word for unrolled? I don't know what it means :(

@t3chb0t It just means that instead of looping (is branching on low level) you will do the instructions iteratively

ok, I think I get now
about two years ago it was much easier to earn a hat and there were a lot more of them

Thinking about this... When talking about JIT vs AOT: Isn't JIT very powerful in detecting when loops can be unrolled? In AOT there may be cases where you don't know the number of iterations a loop will do but with JIT you might know

Q: A generic logger in modern C++

Peter LenkefiI've created a simple logging system that I'm planning to use and I've tried out some modern C++ features to make it generic. First I've made a log class that represents a single log message: struct log : std::stringstream { private: template <typename Level, size_t I = 0, typename... Stamps>...

A: Improve migrating questions between Stack Exchange sites

Meta's Mug (even if I was not expecting Migration in the Closing section to be honest) One of the rules of migration is that, in order to be a candidate for migration, a question must be off-topic on the site it's posted. That's why custom close reasons such as: I'm voting to close this question as...

Apparently you can mortarboard on Meta sites.

You don't get rep from it, but you can get a badge if the number of upvotes on your question/answer would have gotten you that rep.

Kaz
I would absolutely vote to ban Migrations outright.

huh, I got "just here for the hats"

Q: Wrong with Fizzbuzz

Abdelrhman Fawzyprint out all of the numbers from 1 to 100. Except if a number is a multiple of 3, print out the word “Fizz” instead. If the number is a multiple of 5, print out “Buzz”. If a number is a multiple of both 3 and 5 (like 15 or 30) then print out “FizzBuzz”. A couple of things to remember that seem t...

I think that on reputation overflow, the user's reputation should be reset to 0. It's Jon's mistake that he's hitting 1 million. Me, for example, didn't do that mistake. — Maroun Maroun 8 hours ago

A: Verifying a person's age

Simon ForsbergThe biggest problem I see here is that you are printing a warning message to System.out and then using a default value for something which sounds like an Exception. Why allow negative values at all? if (initialAge < 0) { throw new IllegalArgumentException("Initial age cannot be negative, wa...
