Q: How do you save images of detected objects in OpenCV?

kingpinI am trying to add "if, then logic" to the opencv face detection code such that if and when a face is detected through a camera or webcam, an image of the detected face is saved to a pre-determined file path on the controller or computer such as C:\Users\Public\Desktop. I have looked everywhere ...

@Phrancis Why oh why would anyone increase verbosity?
Performance and scalability - yes.

12:29 AM
Yeah, I mentioned it to them, they are fixing it ;-)

Umm, I wonder why I am doing this.
I just found something.

Quarkthis is my first post so be gentle. I am trying to create an instance of a class with specific variables in Form 2 when I click a button in Form 1. Ah nice
@Hosch250 Are you going to wear your much coveted pizza?

I did for a little.
I like the Tan o' shanter.

Gotcha

@Phrancis Was that you who gave me the next set of upvotes?
Oh, and @Phrancis, I'm 79 rep away from PPCG.

1:33 AM
@Hosch250 Pretty sure I upvoted something, not sure what at the moment

Well, thanks.
I got another set of WPF upvotes immediately after I commented here.

Sounds like a case of The 2nd Monitor effect!

Exactly.
That is why I thought you did it.

Q: javascript elevator program code challenge

James Gibson WeberI recently applied for a job where the company gave me the following prompt for a code challenge. Nice, @MannyMeng.

Thanks.

I solved two WPF problems myself today.

The one I asked on SO, and another one, which was literally solved by chance.
Windows Presentation Foundation.
I am actually using Windows Runtime (Windows Store apps), but they are similar.

2:00 AM
BTW, where did all your SO rep go?

SO? I only have 553.
I think that is the highest I've ever had.

@MannyMeng He's from PPCG ;-)

I never was too proud of that rep.

Oh...
I thought you had like 2K on SO

No.
I want 2k here before Jan. 12;

Q: Creating a special type of matrix in R

Graeme WalshI'd like to know if there is a standard way of creating a matrix like the one shown below using the R programming language. $$ \begin{bmatrix} 1 & \rho & \rho^2 & \cdots & \rho^{T-1}\\ \rho & 1 & \rho & \cdots & \rho^{T-2}\\ \rho^2 & \rho & 1 & \cdots & \rho^{T-...

That is impossible for me.

Why?

Even though I used to have more rep than you

I only passed you today.

Because I don't have the time to write that much answers and questions. And code.
You only passed me today?

2:04 AM
OK, I see.
Yes, I gained 149.

I'd like to have 2K on Cooking by Jan 12. Maybe we can compete? :)

Sure.

@Phrancis you have 700 something while @Hosch250 has over 1.3K...

And Cooking is also a lower activity site. I really just want to motivate you guys here :)
But I'll try!

@Phrancis One more question going up tomorrow or later tonight.
I've already delayed doing chores, need to go.
See you!

Q: WPF UserControl

Hosch250I wrote my first WPF UserControl today, and I would like you to review it. Its purpose is to have images by default resize with the page, but expand to full size with a double-click: <UserControl x:Class="MyApp.ImageDisplay" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presenta...

@Gemtastic The force sarcasm is strong with this one.

Seriously though, why is that possible?

3:39 AM
@Gemtastic I'm not sure. All I can say is that I certainly don't recognize my own question now, after 6 edits.

Well, me neither
But it still makes me wonder how people can allow it to distort that much. It's like the whispering game

I originally was asking about why some Christians feel obligated to proselytize to known non-believers, and it turned into What is the basis for the idea that God is highly involved in human lives?

Can't you edit it back?

Not enough rep

T_T

3:42 AM
You can't edit your own question?

I can't rollback edits. I could copy & paste my original question into a new edit. But that's kind of being an ass
Hence, thinking about just deleting it.

Well, it depends on if you want your question answered or not
Or if you want another question answered

It already is, (or the "edited" version is, anyways)...

>_>

Oh, the joys of StackLand.

3:45 AM
Yep

Hey there @monkey

Though discussing that specific question here may lead to some interesting observations.
I think we should review it, and see if there's any code in it?

My question pales in comparison. At least I got an answer to my original question, as ignored as it was.

LOL.

Maybe a new language like LOLCODE?

3:46 AM
Was there a decent response to the meta post?

Let's go back to code

Fair enough, sorry for ranting
@rolfl Depends on how you define "decent"...

Rants are fine, but.... well, this one could go sideways.... you know, the politics, religion and sex things in loose social settings...

With me around, all topics could go astray :(
Better get back to coding

@rolfl Yeah. I had no clue this (apparently simple) question would be controversial over there... I'm a bit surprised by it, TBH...

3:50 AM
Pro-tip, when you discuss a question in meta, you should add a comment to the question so that people know....
(am I qualified to give 'pro-tip' ?).

I believe so
Because you're a pro

they should pay me more ;-)

@rolfl You mean add a comment to the question, on the meta-question? Or in the meta-question-comments?

They should. You don't even get paid as it, right? (At SE)

This question is currently being discussed on Meta. — Jamal ♦ Dec 6 at 3:09
^^^ things like that
@Gemtastic Yeah, no $$$ for mods ;-)

3:53 AM
Ooohhhhhhhhhh. OK.

@rolfl Only pay you get is ingratitude from upset users disagreeing with you :P

If that sort of comment had been on your question, then the subsequent edits may have been more 'sensitive' ?
@Gemtastic As sites go, Code Review appears to have been fortunate to not have much in the way of upset users.

@rolfl And that's why I really like to hang here; met nothing but nice people

Good luck, good management, a combination, whatever, but there have been very few significant instances.
Sorry, could not type, had to find wood to touch... ;-)
@Gemtastic and monkeys .....

@rolfl To be fair, I only posted on Meta once revision #5 rolled out (there have been 2 more since). So I got an answer to a question I never really posted to begin with. Guess I should just get over it and move on to something more important.

3:56 AM
I had one nasty.

Q: Name searching in Java

Nightly NexusI have a search box for searching for people in a list of names. Here is the code that runs every time the query changes. Their question had no code, and I VTCed and commented.
They responded this:
> Fine, ill take it somewhere else. Don't want to offend your royal princess with my easy questions.

I saw that one, yeah.

Halfway humorous, though.

3:58 AM
Did they add the code?

No, they left.

(comments are not searchable...).
link?

@rolfl (comments are not searchable...)

For the record, comments like that are not constructive.... and when you come accross crap like that, flag it as 'not constructive'.

@Hosch250 I totally agree about your reasoning, but; may I suggest perhaps wording it a little "nicer"? Like, I try to word it as "I'm sorry you made a mistake" rather than "I noticed you made a mistake"

4:04 AM
Anyway, I thought it was someone else's code that he tried to change and broke.
OK, I'll try to do better.

Damn right you will.... snap to it!
Seriously, close reasons sometimes get challenged.

OK.

but, don't stress, you did OK.

nightmares ensue

You had no reason to expect that response based on the comment you gave
not your fault

4:06 AM
Yeah it was pretty irrational and disrespectful

The question had a number of issues with it, and your comment, @Hosch250 - happened to hit on the one aspect which seems to have triggered a defensive response.
it happens.

I'm sorry.

Prior to being mayor, Ford was a city councillor. He was first elected to City Council in the 2000 Toronto municipal election, and was re-elected to his council seat twice. @RubberDuck But (say on CR), can you properly edit someone's code without vandalizing it?
I find the distinction on CR about the part you cannot edit (the code) and the part you can edit (the supplementary text) easy
On other sites it's probably more difficult

@skiwi I've never had to do this; is it a matter of posting on Meta.SE or... do you submit a ticket somewhere?

@Phrancis I wish I could answer that question on Christianity I know of lots of verses about God touching lives

@Malachi Secret hats have multiple components.

but on Mathematics?

I believe, for example, that two eureka's were awarded for Fascinating Ma'am

several for Chameleon

@Malachi I hear ya. It just wasn't really what I intended the question to be about

One for score25, and one for me with views>10K

@Phrancis you wanted to know if it was an American thing or if it is actually in the bible on a regular basis. right?

It does not matter where you are when you post the 'discovery' of a secret hat feature.... the hat gets awarded there... So, if Mike Miller posted on Mathematics that the recipe for a hat is XYZ, then the hat would have been awarded there.

@Malachi Sort of, yes.

2:40 PM
Also, I believe 2 eureka's were awarded for chameleon... one for 'changing the profile', and another for there being a random-field component

6 fake hats

> Mark 16:15-16 ESV
