@πάνταῥεῖ That draft FAQ looks pretty good. Only problem I noticed was when I followed the link that purports to define "onebox" but couldn't find that string anywhere in the page - perhaps it needs a better reference (or just explaining inline in the FAQ). I'd like to know what it is, as it's implied it's something we might do accidentally!
^^ and there's some stuff retained from the original source, e.g. Graveyard Room - I assume that will be updated if/when we have one..

@SimonForsberg codereview.stackexchange.com/questions/208168/… why restore it instead of just delete it? OP doesn't like it anyway and I doubt they are going to fix it - otherwise they wouldn't have edited it....

@πάνταῥεῖ Your graveyard and /dev/null should be associated with CR, like this room, so that [tag:foo] formatting produces actual tags.

Well, I've setup the graveyard room where outdated requests should be moved from here /CRCQR/dev/null
@Makyen What do I need to change? Forgive my dumbness with that stuff again please :P

@πάνταῥεῖ looks like the /dev/null has host meta.stackexchange.com, not codereview.stackexchange.com
(it's still in chat.SE, meta.stackexchange.com is just its host)
this makes it a bit more unsearchable

@πάνταῥεῖ Do you want a single graveyard, or both a graveyard room (for requests) and a /dev/null (i.e. trash; for content that's inappropriate for the CRCQR room), similar to how SOCVR does it? I'd note that there are arguments for and against having a trash room that's specific to CRCQR. It certainly possible to use one of the other already existing generic trash rooms. The main argument for having your own is so that inappropriate content can be found easier, if needed for a Meta discussion.

@EriktheOutgolfer Well, that's maybe because I entered for SE CR when I was banned at SO, and only had access via my still available MSE priviledges at that time :P

but that's not chat.meta.SE

7:07 PM
@Makyen I'd like to have a similar thing like used in the SOCVR

you see, you just used the wrong host to create the room, you didn't mess up the entire server

@EriktheOutgolfer How can I fix that?

you can't on your own

well... diamond-powered people do exist :P

7:10 PM
Would it be enough to ask one of the CR mods to do that (which also are sometimes active here @SimonForsberg @ThomasWard)?

I'm not aware of anyway to change the site association after creation, other than a diamond mod. Probably the easiest thing is to change the name of the current room /de/null to something else (to let it get frozen and deleted; it's got nothing in it, so there's nothing special about it, yet) and just start over with new rooms.

well... the CR mods can change that, yes, this is still chat.SE ;P

Okeh, I could start over from my SO chat profile probably.

no!
CR is only in chat.SE

@EriktheOutgolfer NO??

7:11 PM
@πάνταῥεῖ No. It needs to be chat.SE.

I am seriously confused about all of that :S

it can be confusing

Do you want me to create a couple rooms?

May be the easiest action would be I delete that room, and let you do it appropriately. Please don't forget to add me to add me as a RO there.

you can't delete a room on your own
but you can make it a gallery (which it already is)

7:14 PM
@πάνταῥεῖ OK. I'll do that.

alright, rooms made
(chat search auto-refreshes...)

I'm adding the other room owners now: CRCQR Graveyard and CRCQR /dev/null
OK. Done.

Wrah, I can't delete that room. Do I miss something again?

yeah, rooms can't be deleted by non-diamond users
only mods, employees, and, if the activity is too low, time can delete them
(let it sit for a week, it will be gone)

7:20 PM
@πάνταῥεῖ No. Don't worry about it. It will auto-freeze, then auto-delete in several days.

@Makyen Good so, and ty again for the efforts. I'll add your links now to the FAQ.

As long as there isn't activity it will freeze. It will delete based on other criteria (partially no participation).

actually, it will delete long before it freezes :P

@πάνταῥεῖ np. I'll add the rooms to the Archiver as a room-group.

Hmm, there's no point in the FAQ mentioning /dev/null as far I can see.

7:26 PM
expectation of room owners #8

@EriktheOutgolfer Would you like to take the burden of joining us?

well... rn I can't, since I'm studying for numerous exams

You seem to be experienced, and could improve the whole thing.
@EriktheOutgolfer Well, ty for you constructive comments though.

actually, I'm way less experienced than some other SOCVRers :P

@EriktheOutgolfer Well, at SOCVR I'm just a regular user. Way off from playing RO there. Also my knowledge about user scripting and such stuff is zero to nothing :D

7:36 PM
@πάνταῥεῖ From your draft FAQ, it appears that you're supporting/permitting all the request types which SOCVR does. Correct?

@Makyen Yes, I only changed minimal points there to adapt it for this room so far.
I probably need another but different chilling ping sound for this room :P (suggestions anyone?)

not feasible rn ;-)
also, why?

@EriktheOutgolfer There's a userscript.

ah, right, you can almost always userscript your way in :P however, I'm talking about the general case, where userscripts aren't guaranteed

@EriktheOutgolfer To change the notification sound for a room, you can use SE Chat custom notification sound.

7:43 PM
@Makyen yeah, personally I prefer not having more than four different sounds (3 ping sounds for 3 servers, 1 sound for SPAM)
...Vibraphone

@EriktheOutgolfer Well, the default sounds available don't fit my chill level that fine, so I've decided to use this one. But as I have several chat rooms active in my browser tabs I'm started to get confused where the sound came from :).
Just Plonk is really horrible.

where's the sound? :P

@EriktheOutgolfer I've linked it.

but it doesn't play

@EriktheOutgolfer Maybe you need to download it from the pubic repo. The link works fine for me with the userscript installed though.
It's the intro for Peter Gabriel's famous Sledgehammer song.
Veeeery chilled :)

@πάνταῥεῖ FYI I am not a CR mod
i'm a generic moderator from Ask Ubuntu who happens to frequent CR
if it's something mod-needed on CR's site I can't help you
if it's SE Chat I probably can
(just for the record)

9:43 PM
@πάνταῥεῖ I've asked for the Graveyard and /dev/null to be added to the list of rooms Generic Bot keeps alive. I'm not sure the bot runs on chat.SE, but don't be surprised to get a request for write access from a bot account in those two rooms. If it's added, then the bot will post a message sufficiently often to keep the rooms from being frozen. If it doesn't work on chat.SE, then the rooms will need to be kept open manually.

@πάνταῥεῖ Do what?

@SimonForsberg The ping was a bit premature. The issue was resolved by just creating a new room. If you want you can delete chat.stackexchange.com/rooms/86074/crcqr-dev-null, but it should be deleted due to inactivity in the not too distant future.
But, given that I'm not a room owner there, you should probably read the transcript to verify.
