A: Elizabeth's Brooch: Does the one I pick matter?

galacticninja SPOILER ALERT Like many other "choices" in the game, it has no effect on the gameplay whatsoever. The act of choosing a brooch has a significant bearing on the story. In one of the final scenes, notice that Booker will recognize that "Elizabeth" is not the Elizabeth he's been trying to res...

@Konerak The question states: "Does the brooch you pick for Elizabeth have any effect on the ... story line?" It asks for spoiler information on what will happen in the game's storyline (part of which, is the ending). I agree that the question should have a spoiler alert. Feel free to suggest an edit on the question.
@BlueRaja-DannyPflughoeft If you don't want to see spoilers, you shouldn't be viewing questions asking about the game's storyline. Heck, you shouldn't even be editing the answers here. The question states: "Does the brooch you pick for Elizabeth have any effect on the ... story line?" If you want to discuss this, please do so at this meta post I already commented above discussing precisely this.
Downvoter(s): Could you please comment on why you downvoted this answer? This is so I (& others) would know what was wrong with it, & so I could address that concern or edit the answer to improve it. When downvotes are left without comments & the reasons for doing so are unclear, you'll often see users (like myself) wanting to know the reason why. If this is due to the spoiler markup, & not the content of this answer (which not really a good reason to downvote an answer), add your views in the meta discussion I started discussing precisely this: meta.gaming.stackexchange.com/q/7128/4797
@BlueRaja-DannyPflughoeft I came here to view and answer questions, and seeing everything in spoiler markup makes doing that harder. I've edited in a spoiler warning in the question itself to warn people who are trying to avoid spoilers. (Although, I still don't get why someone who doesn't want the BioShock Infinite plot ruined will continue reading the answers to a question related to the game's plot.)
Downvoted for unhidden spoilers + lack of new information, you're pretty much repeating what Diogo said.
@kotekzot "Downvoted for unhidden spoilers" I didn't know that this is a valid downvote reason. BRB downvoting all answers in Arqade with unhidden spoilers. If you want to discuss lack of spoiler markup on questions about plot, please do so at this meta post I already commented multiple times above discussing precisely this: meta.gaming.stackexchange.com/questions/7128/… and not downvote this answer on invalid grounds.
@kotekzot As to why the answers happened to be similar - when I wrote this question, I didn't even see what Diogo's answer was. That's because most of it was hidden in spoiler markup (and one of the reasons why one shouldn't hide answers to plot-related questions in spoiler markup). Also, mine has a nice picture illustrating exactly what I was talking about. =) Not really an exact duplicate.
Well, you should have checked what the other answers were before posting your own. That sort of picture does not contribute enough to warrant a new answer, in my opinion. Normally I would simply add spoiler markup instead of downvoting, but you already reverted such an edit. Since I'm not looking for another edit war with you, I decided a downvote would be the best response.
@BlueRaja-DannyPflughoeft I've put a spoiler alert at the top of my answer, as a compromise, rather than putting spoiler markup on the whole answer.
Another meta post stating why one shouldn't put the whole answer under spoiler markup: Of spoilers, plot twists and our mission

Nobody is saying you should put your entire answer under a spoiler. See Diogo's answer to understand how to post useful answers while hiding spoilers.
@kotekzot "Nobody is saying you should put your entire answer under a spoiler." That's the opposite of what happened in this edit to my answer: gaming.stackexchange.com/revisions/113125/2 The two meta posts I've mentioned also state that one shouldn't expect spoiler markup on answers to questions asking for plot information.
Are you saying you will accept a revision that makes your answer the same as Diogo's in regard to spoilers?
@kotekzot If meta discussions say that that should be the policy, I will allow it. Since the meta discussions don't, then no. Also, I've already edited a spoiler alert note on the question and my answer, so there's no need for that.
That seems like a lot of work to avoid spoiler markup.
Hi
@kotekzot Actually, it's easier to just put spoiler alert on the top of the answer.
03:35
I don't think your answer falls under the category of sensible spoilers, given the question
Hello. I started chat, since I've been alerted that extended discussions should be moved here.
If somebody wants to find out what the brooches do, they are likely not expecting massive endgame spoilers
I'm just following the meta discussion regarding spoilers on answers.
I understand that. I have already put a spoiler alert on both the question and my answer.
I think this is a good compromise, compared to putting all or most of my answer under spoiler markup.
