Regarding the above non-math, you can do whatever, @quid. =)
@user21820 thanks. :-)
Was spamming the logic room. This is the third copy of same spam.

@amWhy abolish time zones in general
just remember when the sun comes up depending on where ya live
@AlexanderGruber How would that work when the sun comes up at different times on different days?
"Goedel denial" whatever is that suppose to mean?
@user21820 Ahh you can time it
it depends what you use sunrise for
@AlexanderGruber While the DST is annoying, I can see why people wanted to have it because it snaps to the hour. Better than having to count in minutes or something, or needing to calibrate all your devices in the morning using some special instruments to observe the sunrise without damaging your eyes.
Incidentally, some people deny that the sun rises, and that scientists are trying to bury the issue with the sun rising.
@AlexanderGruber I agree!! When I am elected president...
@user21820 The sun doesn't rise; it's the earth that revolves and rotates!
15:42
@user21820 in fairness to the flat earthers, until every point on the earth's surface has been individually observed, it could still be homeomorphic to a plane. :P
@amWhy Of course. From a certain point of view. =)
@AlexanderGruber Lol! Then I guess it still could be! Nobody has observed inside all the deep sea vents.
There are many fiction stories about the earth being hollow too.
@user21820 I've always liked those. They've got em in german mythology
@amWhy depends on your reference frame I suppose! I wonder what Einstein would say
@AlexanderGruber Do you prefer ones where the earth core is a source of light, or ones without that?
@user21820 i like the black sun
there is a game called Banner Saga which has a very built-out interior world chapter based on all that
"Incidentally, some people deny that the sun rises, and that scientists are trying to bury the issue with the sun rising." laughs The Sun does NOT rise relative to the Earth. The Earth revolves about the Sun, with the Earth turning in towards to the Sun each day. Anyone trying to convince you that the Sun rises would have to reject heliocentrism to be consistent!
15:50
Existential nausea (think Sartre) boils down to the experience of those of us sensitive to motion sickness experienced daily due to earth's rotation! ;D
Some people also don't understand frames of reference.
Could well be amWhy.
@AlexanderGruber It always struck me as ridiculous, because physically a shell world is very very unstable.
It's not about frames of reference. The Sun doesn't move. The sun rising implies it's motion.
@DougSpoonwood yes it does
@user21820 yeah it's certainly not the most physically plausible of myths
15:52
No, the sun does not move relative to the Earth.
Not enough for it to 'rise'.
at the very least.
@DougSpoonwood in the earth's frame of reference the sun revolves around the earth
in the sun's frame of reference the earth revolves around the sun
@AlexanderGruber That's earthlingism! The universe revolves around human-life! ;D
The Earth doesn't have a frame of reference.
Nor does the Sun have a frame of reference.
what does, doug?
Concepts of people.
15:55
@amWhy i hope it doesn't spin off into the abyss once we blow ourselves up
@AlexanderGruber I know, seriously!
Motion doesn't happen in the abstract also, so motion doesn't happen in a frame of reference.
@DougSpoonwood motion of course depends on spacetime as a component of objective reality which is disputable
@AlexanderGruber That reminds me. Some people believe the longest dimension is their age.
@user21820 that's true. If you decide that dimension is infinite, you'll never be able to falsify that hypothesis.

Maybe, @DougSpoonwood, you should consider creating your own chatroom, so users wanting to engage with you can do so there. I'm not so sure it is always fitting for you to dominate other's chat rooms for as long as you seem to want to do, regularly.
My main concern, @DougSpoonwood, is that some of the chatrooms in which you have been engaged in long/protracted debates may preclude others who have things to say that they find important, but who are respectful not to interrupt on ongoing conversation. And so they may leave without resolution, or the opportunity to contribute in ways they find meaningful. We are a community, and particularly in active chats, we all need to be cognizant of not dominating ....
,,,in ways that may leave other users feeling shut out.
16:54
That's a good point @amWhy this conversation is quite niche
@AlexanderGruber Thanks to you and all mods involved for your recent clarification of guidelines in editing questions! Having clear guidelines is more than half the battle!
@amWhy no problem :) it seemed to have been coming up a lot.

@XanderHenderson: thanks (mod team) for taking time to formulate the policy. On the face of it the policy may not look so appealing to those who want to preserve the nice answers (because there is reasonable effort involved), but doing this will actually help them to focus on gems rather the routine stuff and in a way it is about using their resources economically.

Just received a suggested edit review audit. I think this chatroom should sponsor a weekly or monthly competition for "sera of the week/month"! Some are just downright hilarious! The one I just reviewed included the phrase "spirituality filled" and "stacksproject defintive"
@amWhy i like it
17:26
@AlexanderGruber: I notice that peace and quiet has returned. =)
@user21820 yes-- it is good to have a single repository for doug's teachings so that all may benefit from them without having to search through others' rooms
@user21820 ;D

Hello @quid kid!
@amWhy ;D
squid, did, rid, bid, lid, mid, skid,
acid
@quid ;D placid

@quid Give me an example of a quidiom?
idiom: "a group of words established by usage as having a meaning not deducible from those of the individual words". (E.g., raining cats and dogs! or "walking on pins and needles".) I'd like to know your favorite "quidiom"!
@amWhy hmm...I'll have to think about that.
21:07
@quid You've got a generous 24 hours to think on it! ;D
Maybe I'll take one hour for a start. I'll think about it while shopping.
@quid While you're shopping, can you pick me up some milk? :-)
"Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater!" "You hit the nail on the head!"
^^^Just to get your mind rolling! ;D
21:22
@quid Your market must be open late, unless you're shopping online!
@amWhy yes in theory until midnight, in practice they don't like it to much on the last minute. Thus I better hurry up.
@quid skedaddle! (or quidaddle!)
22:02
It's not really an idiom but I like "The moon does not care if the dogs bark at it."
By the way the shopping reminded me that I followed up on the malted milk @amWhy
@amWhy done. You got lucky; there was exactly one bottle left.
Here 🥛. Want a cookie, too?
22:42
@quid Of course, milk and cookies go together! ;D
@quid I like that a lot too! Thanks!
🍪🍪🍪 @amWhy
@quid Mmmmm, yummy, yummy, yummy! ;D
