@amWhy I'm genuinely curious... what happens vis-a-vis the election, if a comet hits?
We delay for a couple of weeks? or just get on with it?
@XanderHenderson ;D Depends which half of the world gets crushed. If it's SE headquarters, then it might take months!
Oh noes!
Also is SE down?
It seems not to be working on my end...
Seems like the problem may be on my end... other things are not working, now...
@XanderHenderson Yikes!
Gonna go reset the router... see if that helps. :\
@XanderHenderson Crossing my fingers that it does help.
01:00
that helped
01:14
I have no limes. :(
So, I cannot make a margarita.
I also have no olives, so a martini seems like a stretch.
No sweet vermouth, so a negroni is out of the question.
No beer in the house, either. :\
Saturday evening cocktails are looking pretty scarce right now.
Something is WRONG!
The dot next to "Close Votes" is not red!
WHAT HAPPEN?!

8 hours later…

@amWhy in Arabic, it kinda rhymes with feel rather words ending with -ile
in English; however, it rhymes with -ile words
so you're good ;)

@quid Hello! I just saw that my room got frozen? As messages are removed, I cannot see what actually happened, but I assure you from next time nothing like that will happen. I will try to negotiate with those users (if they want to be there they have to be civil). Is there any chance that my room gets active again?
@Knight I'll look into it later.
@quid Thank you.
hello @amWhy, I saw a ping but it disappeared.
@PeterUdesky Against what?
By the way "live chess" started again it seems.
@Knight I'll need to leave now but I'll come back to that in an hour or so. Feel free to remind me.
17:55
@quid I’m grateful to you for your kind attention.

1 hour later…
19:12
@quid It wasn't anything noteworthy or worth bothering you with. Thanks for noticing. I'm sorry I bothered you for no other reason than to say hello.
19:25
@amWhy :-)
@quid, I also feel the same, about this room
Physics one
I am sorry, I went a little too much ahead in the talk
Now I will try to remain as silent as possible :-)
And let this be clearly said, @amWhy and @quid, you two are among the best people on MSE, while I was away it all made sense ;-)
19:46
@Arjun sometimes one can get carried away a bit.
@Knight it's open again, but if this is your room, please do keep an eye on it. You can move messages to "trash" etc.
@quid yep, I got but thanks anyway sir. Let's hope the new mod will reduce some of your work

1 hour later…
21:17
@quid :-) DING
@amWhy did you have a nice Sunday so far?
@amWhy DONG
@quid So, far, pretty nice, just hot and humid outside. Woke up to a thunderstorm at 4:00 am!
@quid DUNG
@quid How about for you? How's your Sunday been?
@amWhy not much. I could rest a bit.
@quid Good idea. DANG
@amWhy no, if it starts ding dong, you need to say: "The witch is dead."
21:25
@quid Ahh! Sorry to break the rules! Why not "Ding Dong: The warlock is dead."? ;D
We gotta shake/change things up, @quid! :-)
@amWhy but you'll have to rewrite the entire play?
@quid Yeah, you have a point there!
@amWhy and you especially being a big fan of the Wicked Witch.
@quid But you're talking to someone who in high school rewrote the Declaration of Independence (US) so that it stated: "All people are created equal... etc. etc."
@quid Am I? She scared me to death as a child!
@amWhy yes, but that's what she is supposed to do. Perfect job!
21:37
@quid Hah! She did it well! And those flying monkeys of hers! I'd have to leave the room until it was safe to come back to watch the rest of the movie: "I'm melting!!"
@amWhy The monkeys in the book are so much more interesting. The are controlled by a magic hat, and you only get a couple of favors from them before you have to give up the magic hat.
@XanderHenderson The book "The Wizard of Oz"?
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz () is an American children's novel written by author L. Frank Baum and illustrated by W. W. Denslow, originally published by the George M. Hill Company in May 1900. It has since seen several reprints, most often under the title The Wizard of Oz, which is the title of the popular 1902 Broadway musical adaptation as well as the iconic 1939 live-action film. The story chronicles the adventures of a young farm girl named Dorothy in the magical Land of Oz, after she and her pet dog Toto are swept away from their Kansas home by a cyclone. The book is one of the best-known...
@amWhy Yup.
Wow, I should have known that!
22:38
So, @quid. Who best describes you: The Straw Man, the Tin Man, or the Lion, or (drum roll.....) the Wizard of OZ!?
Or... @quid, you can answer, who would you choose be be cast as, if you had to play a role in the wizard of oz??
@quid You can also cast yourself as Toto! ;-) Just trying to give you options!
I'm afraid I cannot answer this. I hardly know the play.
The thing with "ding, dong, the witch is dead" I know because of it being used in reference to Thatcher.
@quid Then you have to get a crash course and respond to my question in one week's time. That's your deadline! ;-)
@quid Okay, fair enough. You have no deadline imposed by me. Gosh knows you have enough such deadlines to meet.
Can I be a witch too?
After all I'm Meryl Streep, maybe.
@quid Maybe Glenda the Good Witch from the East? But also, you can be awfully Wicked! ;D
Meryl Streep did perform in Fatal Attraction, after all, a pretty wicked role. So you can decide to be a good witch, or a bad, wicked witch!
@amWhy so much so that you sometimes leave the room, it all comes together. ;-)
22:53
@quid Hah! ;D
