This seems like a room for chess enthusiast associated with Mathematics: chat.stackexchange.com/rooms/info/108579/1-e4-2-ke2-1-0
in 1. e4 ... 2. Ke2 1-0, May 28 at 10:14, by Alessandro Codenotti
Ok so what's the plan? I was thinking that either Silman's endgames book until we get to a level which is too hard, or the first of Yusupov's nine books series would be a good candidate as a text to follow. They are often suggested for beginners
in 1. e4 ... 2. Ke2 1-0, May 28 at 10:20, by Alessandro Codenotti
Let's see who is interested and if there are other suggestions
Chess was mentioned in this room a few times, so maybe there are some users here who might be interested in this.
That's why I mentioned it here.
I do not know anything about chess myself.

I have a genuine question for @amWhy, why are you so devoted to MSE? I mean what drives you?
Everone else is also welcome to give their reasons
@amWhy, hi!

@ArjunRana I'll have to think on that before answering. Yes, I am devoted to this site: I love math, and I love teaching math, but I also want to keep math.se a valuable resource for serious students, and don't want it to become yet another "homework completion site." I'll try to come up with a more profound answer to your question.
@amWhy , yeah i came up with this one. i'll look forward to the more profound answer;-)
because there is always a time when we feel like, i am out and this is final, i am out
@ArjunRana What? What do you mean, you are out? Oh, I think I know what you mean.
@amWhy , no😂😁, i meant to explain that feeling
@ArjunRana That's what I concluded you meant :-)

@amWhy Please pardon me for offering some unasked for advice, but it might be better to avoid engaging in the recent Meta thread. I have added a couple of comments that I felt summarize the background - the rest I trust the mods to handle.
@Brahadeesh thanks!!
I appreciate it, @Brahadeesh!

@amWhy Don't mention it :) I saw the Meta post and your comment under it, and I felt a pang of worry. Even if the user is being malicious, commenting about their "claimed name of "Amily"..." might get you into trouble with the CoC. I hoped that with my comments adding a bit of explanation, you could remove yours so that any such needless trouble for you is avoided.
@Brahadeesh Again, Thank you!

Okay, @quld. Perhaps you know @BrianM.Scot? Or perhaps you know @Don.Antonlo? Or perhaps you know @AlixanderGrwuber? You tell me, @quid, whether each of these is an "innocent choice" of a username.
As I said to you earlier to you, @quid or quld, I'm done here.
@amWhy I don't know what your point is
That's the point @quid. What you yourself just stated. You don't get it!
Good bye, @qwid.
18:54
@amWhy the point is it would have been handled in a similar way.
Thus I do not get what you want.
We actually face such things sometimes.
In the current case we were rather to the activist end.
Okay @qwid.
I think my next username will be qwid.
Because someone wants to vandalize mine, and since you seem not to care terribly much, I'll go with qwid next.
Then we'll see a mod, @quid, rise to the occasion to suppress it! Because only some users matter around here.
@amWhy no problem, not last because I don't think you'd vandalize it.
Maybe somebody wants to be qvid.
That'd be fun.
What would cause an issue is if you tried to place a diamond. That's a general rule though. Also clear impersonation is not alright. For example had they taken your identicon in addition that would be a clear case of that.
19:10
Goodbye, @quid. Of course you'd say that, because moderationship is sacred, but not anyone's usership. As the support for the wannabe amWily grows on meta, it only confirms to me that it is my time to leave. Rethink how you deal with this happening to @BrianM.Scot, and @XanderiHenderson, and company, since you only seem to care about mods being impersonated. You waivered heavily in your answer, wishy-washy as it was. Good for you, wishy-washy @quid.
@amWhy not sure what support there is.
@quid Signing off for good.
@amWhy you can believe it or not but it would be handled about the same way. In your case we reset right away. We reset first and asked later (well we asked at the same time but we did not discuss first). That's rather swift action. It's not clear what you'd expect.
19:44
This question got me!
19:56
@quid , done
@quid, I am qwib!
Hmm, why is it still showing Arjun?
@ArjunRana it takes a while until it propagates to chat
But @Qwid I can speed it up
I take it you are aware that you are now stuck with that name for a month?
@quid , do it please
Thanks if u did it
@Qwid it"s done.
@quid yess! I am a moderator now for not so keen observers
@Qwid I think that you went with Q instead of q makes it quite distinct actually
There are even studies about that.
But maybe that's better anyway :-)
You can also go with qwid if you like.
20:08
@quid ,I said 'keen observers', and btw what powers does a mod have?
@quid , I really don't want to be pinged instead of u:-)
@Qwid mostly our votes take immediate effect and we can suspend users.
@quid ,suspend permanently?
@Qwid up to a year
@quid , I am happy to be here, I believe I misbehaved some days ago in a room with robjohn
@Qwid well the math mods are known for their indulgence.
20:12
@quid is that a humour u are conveying?
@Qwid no it's actually true. Moderation is more loose on math.se than on some other sites
@quid , I feel this too, out of 8 or 9 I think only you are very active(no offence to others)
hello guys..
@Qwid and I am the most indulgent of all, as regards what is relevant in chat at least.
Re the main site it's a bit different.
@AndrésUcero hi
20:16
@AndrésUcero hello!
@quid ,I think Jose Santos deserves moderatorship
could you help me with a question about the threads?
@Qwid nothing against JSC but users that answer a lot are often not the most efficient moderators.
@AndrésUcero what threads?
threads of execution
@AndrésUcero 💀💀💀💀
20:20
what happens if one thread closes a file while another is still reading data from it?
@quid ,amwhy would suffice as a mod
@Qwid she already declined that idea

Not a flashmob but still impressive.
@AndrésUcero sorry for not having replied, but that's a room of the math site. I don't have much knowledge of programming.
