+1. I think you have already made them known that you are there for them. And I think they already know it. In my opinion, it would be better if you leave them alone for a while. If they don't contact in a week or two, you can share something common. May not be a meme. Something less funny/more serious, because you don't know what state of mind they would be in. How about review of a book or some article or info about a new restaurant or something? — aarbee 24 secs ago

Thanks for your answer. I agree with you on most points. Just a few things that maybe didnt come out from the question: I dont fight/disagree with my mom on everything. Most things I can just shrug off because they dont affect me that much. There are some things though that do have an impact. For example, I am kinda picky with where I want my desk because, for example, I dont want sunlight to shine on my Monitors. When I propose the Position and she just says "no" with no explaination I get the feeling that there actually is none. "Pick your own battles" is a pretty loaded thing to say. — Patrick Hollweck 1 min ago

Hey Tinkeringbell, are you specifically looking for an answer on how to fake interest or would you be interested in other potential solutions? One answer I'm toying with writing centres around discussing your disinterest with your mother, basically the opposite of faking it (at least with her) but I don't want to suggest that if your specifically looking for your bolded question. One other thing, when you say ".. I just reminded her of that" do you mean you literally reminded her, i.e. told her, or did your act of being disinterested remind her that you didn't care? — RyanfaeScotland 2 mins ago
