Hey
@LuisAlvarado
ok can you explain the last part you mentioned in a comment.
When I boot into it, it's just showing the flash drive as an option to partition
23:00
and you have an HDD and the flash drive right?
Yeah
I take it out until it boots into the USB though
did you open gparted to have a look?
you take what out?
The HDD
so it doesn't boot into the old sys
you can change that in the BIOS
I know
23:01
wait, sorry I forgot the original question, is it an external HDD then?
but it's a lot easier to have it default. I manually run the detect disks during the install
It's a hot swap rack server
so all of the HDD's are "external"
a ok ok got it
ok did you open gparted in the liveusb
and see what it showed?
What, in the extremely limited shell that's in RAM?
how much ram?
if you have 1GB or more, thats enough to open gparted
The shell that you can choose to run during the install
and it's got 8GB
23:03
no, I mean, when you boot the liveusb, am guessing you wait until it finishes loading onto the desktop right?
What desktop...
This is 12.10 Server
sorry if I'm a bit slow :)
yeah me too, just got home
let me read the question again wait
ok weird, tested here and again it detected my drives. Can you access this time the F6 options
and also, are you using the alternative simpler server version of the normal server version that you can download from the site.
Thats the one I am using
If you can not see the F6 options then I would ask to give me 1 day to test out your problem without using the F6 keys.
Ah, sorry, back
You saw it in the F6 menu?
I'll grab another keyboard
/afk :)
23:14
ok
I ask for the F6 option so you can remove the "splash" option and see what is going on while booting
That way you will see when it gives any error when loading the hard drive. BTW depending I tried connecting the drive after booting and is not detecting it
So at least in the server edition, you need to have the HDD connected from start.
Still, test it yourself first, the F6 option I mean.
Allright
I've got the F6 menu up
What one would I press? expert mode?
press ESC and a command line should appear, tell me the last options shown in there
Ok
boot:
When I press enter it brings back up the GUI
ok let's do something, my email [email protected]. Contact me tomorrow through there. I'll have a step by step guide by then.
Ok
Cool
Thanks again!
23:26
No problem. Tomorrow then.
Allright, bye!
