its been too long
nobody remebers me prob
@AshwinGupta yes we do :)
:)
@Downgoat what does OnionNotOnion do?
i stumbled across ur github again lol
@AshwinGupta its a classifier for a challenge by Mego to detect if a post is from the satirical website The Onion or just a normal (crazy-sounding) headline
lol i c
@AshwinGupta any particular reason you've been taking a break?
05:55
well
ive basically been CRAZY insane busy after schools since high school started
@AshwinGupta you are in CA too right?
yeah
i was doing robotics really competetively, my team actually won CA state championship so cal. So that ate a lot of time
and during the summers I was studying for ACT and shit
@AshwinGupta :o wow thats impressive
nah it wasnt
meanwhile my school's VEX team has not been able to win a single competition >_<
it's pretty sad :P
05:56
Lol
=/
where r they located?
lol do they want a carry?
@AshwinGupta this is what a good student would do but why study for SAT when you can be on PPCG :P
anyway im not doing vex this year
doing FRC
lol true.
@AshwinGupta we live up in east bay
oh yeah im down south of LA
@AshwinGupta i looked at your profile.. you worked on a cubesat :OOOOO
05:58
yep that too
still working on a cubesat actually
that's really cool
yeah, I learned a lot of EE stuff from that
i live in the richest county of CA and yet my school can't afford paper towels much less a cube sat program ;_;
LOL
the cubesat program im in is shared between 5 schools actually
but lucky me, my school is avionics
which means I basically get to manage all the software stuff, write code, and work on the flight boards.
wow that's really cool
06:01
and don't forget WHAP
yeh so there u go, that + robotics is basically where i've been
hmm that sent twice
@AshwinGupta u doing apush this year
haha same >_<
lol
lovely
btw does the 19th byte still exist?
nvm found it
@AshwinGupta XD
06:03
well anyawys
ok now I totally want to try to get a cubesat club at my high school going XD
oh yeah you should
my best advice though-
its a bit more expensive but its totally worth it to go full USB connections
managing 8 different serial protocols for various things is a pain in the ass
we have DSA sensors hooked up via SPI, Thruster on i2c, panel GPIO, magnetoruqer on i2c dac
etc. etc.
@AshwinGupta did you guys program w/ C++?
mostly C/C++ yeah
@AshwinGupta and here i am thinking wiring up a radio with I2C is hard :P
06:06
actually for our radio we didnt implement the low level
we got software from CalPoly SLO
that they use for their cubesat radio
radio is pretty much the hardest thing to work with.
what about on the ground for receiving?
Well we work very closely with CalPolySLO
and IVC
they have ground station
but im not 100% familiar with the setup for that actually. I'm not on team communications.
@AshwinGupta how much did ur cube sat cost
in 10s of thousands
our mentors only know the exact number though
obviously students are not trusted with such information lol
@AshwinGupta do u know who organizated it at your school district?
06:10
yes
it was actually initially a parent volunteer
thats us
im not in that video tho lol
why tf can my school not be this awesome
actually i lied i am in that video apparnetly
just the back of my head
yah its pretty cool
anyways ill ttyl i need to sleep now
i need to prepare for SAT math 2 on sat lol
@AshwinGupta oh so did rocketlab give u guys funding?
I think they helped us out
with some of the cost
but not completely
we were supposed to launch a few months ago actually but now are launch is in November.
heres a decent pic of our satelite when stowed (no panels extended)
the dude on the right is me
brb creating lobbying effort to buy cubesat for our school
