@DialFrost At first, this sounds like a bad idea. The block quote function is our standard way to indicate that the text is from a source and we also cite the specific source as well. What would be the reason for not using the block quote in this case?
I need this on a tee-shirt yesterday!

Q: "Next Generation Arecibo Telescope (NGAT)... would combine a 314-metre-wide platform with a swarm of 9-metre dishes on top" What would that look like?

uhohIn Nature News' August 11, 2023 Closing down an icon: will Arecibo Observatory ever do science again? found in The Pod Bay there is discussion of the Next Generation Arecibo Telescope (NGAT): Another, more distant hope is for the Next Generation Arecibo Telescope (NGAT) to be built at the site. ...

@uhoh the reason is paraphrasing :)
idk i just don't want to seem like I'm copy pasting all my answers and it looks like i put no effort into it even though i take hours to find it sometimes

if i have to use a blockquote still then might as well not paraphrase anyways ig

@DialFrost Oh I'm so sorry! I missed the word "pharaphrase" in your first comment.
Sure we paraphrase all the time!
It just depends on the person and the situation. Whatever works best for you.

hmm
23:28
@uhoh is there an extent to how much u need to paraphrase to not use blockquotes?
23:52
@DialFrost I don't know how to answer that in an objective way. If you use block quotes, you must quote exactly, if you deviate, you use certain editorial marks, like parenthesis for instering a (missing) word or ellipsis (...) to indicate a missing piece.
I don' think there's any way to give you a useful, definitive answer to such an abstract question. It needs examples.
So just post your answer and if it's on my question I'll get a notification and go look at it.
