At 8k, the winner is obvious. There's almost no need for 20k...
But I'm sure y'all don't agree
And I already declared that 20k is final
03:51
The hunter has been hunted
[2608] Bot Potentially Victorius ate Hunter.Armageddon and gained 196 coins
Note: I have decided that the ability to move North is overpowered, so any bots that return "north" in the final competition will be immediately disqualified
04:35
@RedwolfPrograms What!?!

5 hours later…
09:22
@RedwolfPrograms I think the ability to move is overpowered
I suggest that the bots don't move and just the coins pop up randomly.
As a possible optimization of that, I suggest that the winner is determined randomly :—).
09:39
I'm writing a magnet bot atm that attracts coins
10:16
@Ramillies To make things easier, I suggest we declare "TBTPTGCBCBA" as the winner.
Why not. Winning such a useless challenge is not worth anything to me :—).
@BetaDecay, how does he do it?
(Or is he attracting coins in his rest frame of reference only?)
10:34
@Ramillies Exactly :D
11:10
Ooh, it's so nice when someone understands physics jokes :—).
@Ramillies I'm not good at physics, I only understand physical jokes ;(

2 hours later…
13:31
Actually, @Ramillies, that's a good idea!
From now on, all movement is against the rules.
Does anybody think Gold Collectors 2.0 should be created? It will have: floating point positions, a varying amount of coins, the ability to "drop" a coin, 16 directions, and speed control
How many country singers does it take to change a lightbulb? Two. One to change it, and the other to sing about how much he misses it
@RedwolfPrograms I think yes, but I would suggest a good cool down time between this and next challenge. Posting similar challenges in a close time period could cause people to lose interest.
That is just my idea though.
Wow...4000 views? When will they ever stop???
14:18
@RedwolfPrograms What is the dead line time? I know it is "Wednesday, August 15th, 2018", but is there any time/timezone for it?
UTC midnight
No, UTC noon
I need time to run the rounds
Can you please update your post with all rule updates?
Yikes, that'll take a while...
But I probably should
I mean like how many games, how many rounds per game, exact deadline time and so on
14:20
It would be unfair for people outside of chat to not know these information
Thanks
(But you don't need to add the rule that any movement is forbidden :—))
You still can add the rule that TBTPTGCBCBA is the winner by default :P
@Ramillies I have implemented the logic to go after weaker bots when my rank is >= 2. Guess what happens?
You lose miserably?
14:22
Are you chasing Potentially Victorious once again?
@RedwolfPrograms Correct
I end up being the weakest bot in less than 1K runs
=))
I thought so
You need to actively hunt coins
I told you that you can put a copyright on this miserable thought if you wish :—P
I did work on a logic to go after a weaker bot which is very close to another strong bot
To try and corner it
But it doesn't work
I tried that too and it failed horribly.
14:23
Because all top bots have no interest to chase a weak bot anymore
The thing is that the bot who is running away from you is the one who picks the direction.
It works with old "Potentially Victorious" bot, because that chases Feudal Noble and other weak bots and occasionally one of us eats the weak bot, but doesn't work with new "Potentially Victorious"
So most often the bot who are you trying to hunt just goes around, grabs tons of coins, you're right behind him but unable to do anything.
Yes
Just until the hunted bot grabs so many coins that he is now stronger than you, and then you are running away from him.
The old Potentially Victorious used to have a lot of chases like this with the old TBT...
14:26
How many physicists does it take to change a lightbulb? One to do the math, one to change the bulb, and one to call the government to report their findings
I am thinking about another chaser bot, but the issue is that chaser bot should be good enough to be among top strong bots to be able to help with chasing
Thta's my issue
Two: one holds the bulb and the other rotates the entire world around it.
I tried to make a bot that hunts coins in the endgame, but it died before then
@Ramillies (:
@Ramillies How do you rotate earth around a bulb?
14:27
That's what Archimedes did, right?
By the way, the new Potentially Victorious is still able to go hunting, but it will only hunt a weaker bot who is at distance 2 or less from it, and only for 10 turns.
@Ramillies It is not good enough for my idea, usually by the time my bot detects a bot being chased and arrives there, it is late
@Night2, that's a work for the engineers, not for the physicists :—)
Only in mid-game I had a few successful eating of Safety coin
But that never changed a game result
14:30
Big King Little Hill does so well in end game
So, the current system I have for scoring is the bounty goes to winner, and the accepted answer goes to community favorite. How should community favorite be determined? I was either thinking a survey, or most upvotes
Some times when I'm 500 or 600 coins ahead on rank 1, Big King Little Hill still ends up winning on 20k runs
Yes.
He does absolutely the best.
I have to go back to drawing board and think more about a way to beat that bot in end game
Yesterday, I ran 50 20k's. Potentially Victorious somehow won 9 times, but Big King 28 times...
14:31
I told you that in long runs, we won't be able to win much
Attention:
All competitors, please optimize your bots for performance
On 1K or 2K runs my bot and yours win the most, but the longer the game goes, others win more
Yeah.
Mine is the best with very short games, and the longer the game is, the worse he does.
@RedwolfPrograms Our bots are only getting more complicated each day 😊
What do y'all think about the community favorite method? Survey, or upvotes?
14:34
18% winning ratio on 20k for Potentially Victorious was a nice surprise for me (I expected maybe 2%), but it's still not good against Big King.
Well, if you want to go with upvotes, then the result is already clear.
@Ramillies I did run a similar 100 games with 2K runs test like yours yesterday and I won 31-30. Luck is also playing some role there.
Night2: interesting, I ran 100 2k's and I won 31-30 too :—D
Google lets you set a custom gender. I set mine to "Bot"
BaitBot has lots of votes, and it doesn't even work :D
(hm, it was 30-29 in fact)
14:36
Never seen BaitBot eating another bot, only 0-0 point collisions on start of the game :P
Yes.
I think he was based on a different idea about how the game will progress.
I think the more attractive your answer is, the more votes you get, doesn't matter if it works or not :D
That's why I think community favorite should be determined by a survey, not upvotes
Yes.
The people who upvoted Bait Bot didn't know/care about the fact that it doesn't work at all.
I would vote for "Big King Little Hill" as my favorite :P Unless I find a way to beat it :D
14:42
I probably for the Feudal Noble. He does quite well (though nowhere near Big King) and he has an amusing story. :—)
I would have a survey with three parts: Favorite, most creative, and best strategy
@Ramillies Oh! Thanks! But I think the noble won't care about your vote nor anyone's vote. He only cares about gold!
@RedwolfPrograms: Sounds good.
@RedwolfPrograms So each one has a different prize?
No, I'd add up total
14:46
Alright
If bot A gets 3 votes for favorite, 0 for creative, and 4 for strategy and bot B gets 2 for favorite, 5 for creative, and 1 for strategy, Bot B wins
What if 2 bots get same amount of votes?
If we had a strong bot which only collects gold on north and another one which only collects on south (both should be able to compete as #1 bot), that could reduce the ZoC power of "Big King Little Hill".
Anyways congrats to @MikeNichols. Your ZoC is working very well in end-games so far ...
If there is a tie on the survey, upvotes is tiebreaker
I'm learning to do AES by hand
@Night2 Thanks. That's what it is intended to do :)
@RedwolfPrograms: Why? All that mix'n'match stuff that it does is really hard to memorize...
And the computer does it far better.
15:00
If I can do it by hand, I can send secret messages to people if I'm locked in a dungeon
Plus, I'm very DIY
I refuse to use Unity for making games, I design my own canvas-based game engines
I refuse to use available Javascript AES APIs, I'm making my own
@RedwolfPrograms here is a nice link for Deadline if you like to add it to the post: timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?iso=20180815T12
I've got at least one minor improvement still to add though to make BKLH a little less pessimistic, particularly in the early game. There are so many trash bots that don't even go for coins, but BKLH assumes they will and doesn't go for those coins. I'm telling it to ignore bots that have less than 1/100 of BKLH's coin count because they can't be trusted to actually go for those coins.
Hmm
@Night2 This is helpful
@MikeNichols I already have a similar mechanism in my bot, I count the bots closer than me to a coin only if they have more than half my points
What should I do the survey on? Google forms, plain HTML, or some other system?
15:08
@RedwolfPrograms I'm not sure what the best tool is, but anything that prevents multi voting, should do the job
Problem is, Google Forms can do that, but it's per account. Anyone with multiple accounts could easily vote twice (I have 4 accounts - School, Work, Personal, and Backups)
And Raw HTML has no real way to do that (And I don't have a very good server)
Strawpoll
@BetaDecay Looks like a nice tool, only the UI is hurting my eyes :D
And it only allows 1 question
15:14
@RedwolfPrograms Yes, seems you have to create 3 separate questions.
And that would get tedious
I don't think I got the question right though
polljunkie.com seems to allow multiple questions
@BetaDecay I think the poll should be created after Deadline, new bots could be posted until then
15:19
Yes
I still haven't added CloseCoin
Besides, I hit the limit on the number of answers allowed, so I had to remove Retired ICE
Oh, so we should check the site if it actually allows up to 40 options as well
Just added 35 options in polljunkie, seems supports it
Controller:var coinLocations = [];
var botCount = botData.length;
var arenaSize = botCount + 4;
var botPos = [];
var eventLog = [];
var botNotes = {
storeData: function(key, value) {
var bot = botData[botNotes.storeData.caller.index];
bot.kvpData[key] = value;
},
getData: function(key) {
var bot = botData[botNotes.getData.caller.index];
return bot.kvpData[key] || null;
}
};

function typeDecorate(value) {
var type = ({}).toString.call(value).match(/\s([a-zA-Z]+)/)[1];
if (type == "String") {
return "\"" + value + "\"";
No, that's Ramillie's BotData
I'm readding it so that people can get to it easier
15:26
I think you have to put latest link of controller on the main post (if the it isn't already the latest one)
Yeah
I will
In 3 hours, be back later

2 hours later…
17:18
@RedwolfPrograms are you having performance issues? I'm wondering because you asked us to optimize our code and I'm working on a bot that is rather... complex.
18:08
Well, I just want the testing to be as fast as possible, since it should take a while
You can probably safely remove protonbot without changing the results
I'm running every submitted bot

5 hours later…
23:16
I tested a new update for Potentially Victorious... now he won 43 games with 2k rounds. beating the second result (TBT...) by more than factor of 2.
I'll see how well he will do in 20k games.
23:58
By the way, Wild Goose Chase is probably not doing its role well:
[10287] Quantum Gnat has eaten Wild Goose Chase for 21 coins
