@Shadow10YearsWizard probable, but you can still manage to make something stupid. A passive aggressive description message like "don't be an idiot wear this", something vaguely morbid like "a way to not die"... a red/blue mask with a 51 stars on it..... plenty of ways to get it horribly wrong.
@Shadow10YearsWizard also consider that some sites have specific chatrooms for any pandemic related topic because some users are quite stressed and may not want to see more pandemic talk in the chat too (especially if they happen to work in the medical sector)
The best option would be have the mask as a separate setting, like "wear hats" & "wear mask"
and be able to opt-out of each one separately so that you could see hats but no masks if that is a pain trigger for you.
And mind you, I am not saying that promoting mask usage isn't good.
I just wouldn't want to put too much pressure on some users.
You know, I have relatives that work in hospitals. Not nice to have a daily work time of 9-10 hours on average for months now.

@Derpy nah that won't happen, way too complicated to implement. Yaakov can do it of course, but only given enough time. Which I'm more than sure that he doesn't get.
