Wonder if the other ones will get a similar re-release.
You can kinda see that the Limited Edition Pinkie skin color matches her pony counterpart, so the Limited Edition seems to be based one their EG colors instead of human like versions.
Does this mean that they plan to release a purple skin version of Twily, gray Rarity, yellow Fluttershy and so on?
While that would be more close to the EG counterparts, this set seems to be more anime-stiled and based on fanworks that pre-dates EG. Basically Anime version with EG clothes.

Anyway to sum up....
Initially 6 figure were planned. Then a 7th one - Sunset - was added..... And now there is the risk that every figure will have TWO variants.
We went from a 6 figure set to... 14......
More than double up the original money investment.
(And this doesn't even take in account the fact that the limited recolors could cost more than the original, despite the original being probably more rare by now since some are out-of-stock)
@Derpy But they completed the originally planned six minifigs first, right? In that case, since that project succeeded, why wouldn't they make more minifigs?
@b_jonas they aren't mini, they didn't even complete the original set yet (so far they have Pinkie, Fluttershy, Twily & Rarity available, Dash and AJ up for preorder, Sunset in planning stage - just a picture with no mold done yet) .....
Dash was planned for end July, but since they are having problems just meeting up demand for Rarity (IE: Amazon JP is delaying delivery for stock problems - probably Covid strikes again) I doubt they will be on schedule with Dash.
AJ was planned for end year and Sunset realistically is probably next January.
there was no need now to rub salt in customers faces by releasing an ALT of an older figure.
Also, original Pinkie is out-of-stock..... so this is double lame because instead of a REPRINT which would make the original version more valuable they do an ALT that probably will even cost MORE...
