@Shadow nope, it wasn't me.
@Shadow furthermore.... the donation timeline is very buggy, but the first 500$ donation was about... 16h ago.
now there is another 500$ donation... 6h ago.
so, either the timeline is wrong, or there are multiple "big contributors"
or a single one that already donated 1k.
either way, now it stands at 9k

@Derpy hmm... who then? Think I saw it shows who donated. No?
@Derpy the later, I assume. Many people take this to heart and got money to spare.
You donated anything?
@Derpy didn't someone said she needs 6 figures amount (i.e. million) to have a chance?

@Shadow only if you actually choose to disclose your "name/alias"
if you look at it, you will notice that multiple donations come from "anonymous user"
@Shadow that is a big point. Personally, I don't think this actually need to "win" a legal dispute.

So what it needs?

I think it just need to generate enough momentum to trigger a dominoes effect.
A... tantrum spiral, if you prefer.
As I said, I wait to see what will happen if this "second half" of the incident gets picked up by media.
to be fair, if I was Monica, I would have already tried to contact the Register and ask for a follow up on the story.
also, if you noticed, the more time passes, the more feed-up people start talking about coordinated action.
I think I now saw people on the Tavern starting to talk about the legality of the way we employ moderators.
From what I saw, we already tried to dismiss that with the usual "reductio at rediculous" technique.
Atlas... before trying to dismiss those claims as jokes, it could be wiser to have a look around external sites and see what people on the web are saying.

9:10 AM
@Derpy I doubt it will, and even if it will be published, don't think it will make any change.

@Shadow as now, that is a powder keg waiting to explode. Will it actually? I don't know.

If Monica will win the case and get a compensation from SE by force of the law then yes, that can have impact.... but it'll take years.

@Shadow you forgot something. Right now, SE top priority seems to be its public image.

@Derpy looks like their only priority is to keep silent, no matter what happens.

@Shadow yes, the problem is that it only works for them.
they can't really keep others silent.
And the fun part is that when/if this goes viral, it doesn't even matter if what is said is true.
all what matter is what the people will choose to believe.
In that regards, I think that right now the "Monica has been toss away like trash" story has far more reach than the "Monica is evil and good riddance they fired her" version.
(Notice: I purposely avoided saying what version I trust in the above message since like I said I don't think it even matters in this context. All what matter is which versions the media will go with.)
Basically, right now SE seems to be risking to become "the company that talks inclusive and then treat people like trash" in the eye of the Internet. I would be far more worried about THAT than a "simple" legal dispute.
All of that just to say that I while won't try to convince anyone to take a side in this story... I would also add that I wouldn't really dismiss this beehive as "not-a-danger" like some other users do.
I... think the story is far from closed, like I said before.
We have crossed a line with this incident.
Before, we had a sad sequence of incidents with short periods of tranquillity in-between.
now... I don't think we will return to a "normal" state anymore.
we reached a point that some users will continue to meditate "revenge" constantly.
and this only means they will gather more momentum each time.
@Shadow and sorry if this was pretty long, I hope that it is also clear enough to see what I mean.

9:34 AM
@Derpy think that (for a change :)) it's clear, yes. Thanks for the insights and while I agree with some, I don't think it's the end of SE. Yet.

@Shadow nor do I. But it.. could become a big reputation stain, depending on how this will evolve.

7 hours later…
5:12 PM
@Zoethetransgirl saw the notice you posted in the Den.
Can only say... I understand. I am actually thinking to do the same.

5:29 PM
@Derpy Then go for it. Half of the reason I'm going for it now is because I'm exhausted and I'm tired of fighting battles I can't ever win
