Something that worries me since it is unclear who will handle that.

After all the changes in the witting staff they already have lost part of the original "vision" the show had.

Gen 5 could be the right opportunity to return the show to Lauren... but I doubt they would do that.

Some did talk about a sort of "alternate story" plot

@Derpy I don't know. The movie, with its slightly altered graphical style and its entering a Disney-like world as a guest (only for the movie) doesn't count, right? It's gen 4.5 at most.

And earth pony Twilight and unicorn Fluttershy sounds like Discord's meddling. Or perhaps Starlight Glimmer's. After she switched the princess sister's special alicorn powers, I can't see what limits she has to her magic. Temporarily polymorphing ponies to another pony race might be possible.

And we've already seen the butterfly wing Rarity of course.

Nope. I specifically remember some rumors about some mane six redesign for a "generation 5".

Why would they need that, when they have such a successful franchise going? If they don't want to make the show, they can make sideline products, like more EG stuff (I think some more of those will be released), an alternate show focusing on someone other than the main character, like the Our Town four or the Crusaders and the school students when they're grown up or whatever.

You can even still have the map and have it summon and send any character to quest.

My only hope is that Lauren did indeed meddle with the idea of "Unicorn Fluttershy" so maybe... just maybe... we will get the MLP she wanted to do.
