To try to clarify: my priority is to ensure fast current 2023 solution search. And minimal duplication, of course.
Which means "NCR" and "ads" better be mentioned in the question.

But adding them to the old question changes it too much and leads to obsolete answers.
So either merge required, either multiple updates of the old question, either completely new question? Not sure what is best, that's why I started all this discussion.
Oh well, I'll just suggest an edit to the old question then - if it works, will delete my QA, if it will be rejected - will try to improve my QA so it was back o…

I'm not even sure now if NCR completely equals USA version, of actually it was the holy worldwide Google.

It seems Goolge NCR ≠ Goolge US - which means it is not correct at all to edit old question and my question is not a duplicate. Oh well.

@Rubén was hoping there is a set of specific instructions to check against (like don't use short Q for question), How to Ask is too broad to give an idea - and I glanced it previously. Can't find another duplicate candidate for my question on the site.

@halt9k Those questions don't seem to be duplicates of each other. Google US ≠ Google NCR (no country redirect). I suggest that you post a query on meta - webapps.meta.stackexchange.com - to get some clarification on why your question was closed.

@BlindSpots @ChrisF @Rubén As you know, the discussion period for the meta FAQ post “Does Web Apps Stack Exchange Require Research?” is ending tomorrow, on Oct. 27. It would be great if you could write an answer to the meta question, “How shall we request the reopening of questions closed due to lack of research?”.

This way, the community can learn how to move forward and reopen the old questions that were closed for lack of research, in line with the community consensus and site policy. How should we go about this? Should we make a community wiki meta post collating those questions, or should we flag them? Or another way?

@halt9k "How to" is fine to be used on question titles on most sites about tooling.

It's a lot better than "Why" in Web Applications SE and other sites that "why" led to long answers or that can only be answered, in the case of Web Applications SE, by the application developers / operators (Google, Facebook, etc.)

@halt9k If your question is not a duplicate, please edit the question to clarify what is being asked. I suggest to not include NCR in the question title, instead use a title that summarizes the question body, as is suggested in the Ask Question form and in in How to Ask.

On Web Applications Meta we have some faq that might help you better, like

I wonder if you are taking the term "question" in a narrow way.

In simple words, the "Ask Question" form allows users to post a request to the Web Applications SE community. This request should meet rules that are enforced by automatic means, like the quality filter that tells the user if the title or body is empty, or too short among other things, semi-automatic means, like auto-flagging bots, that put posts on review queues to be reviewed by community members with certain experience based on the reputation system.

Post and community rules in general are enforced by the community members at will.

Note: If the community rules are not enforced the site will be shut down at the company's will.

It's not required that you go deep into understanding the ropes of Web Applications SE. You should focus on clearly stating the specific problem you are experiencing while using a web application.

@Rubén That's just if spam isn't being removed. It's extremely rare now for a site to be shut down, with the only one from the past couple of years being Windows Phone SE, which had outlived the technology it was about

As I mentioned previously, "forget" about NCR. Instead explain what you do, what you get as a result and why that result doesn't meet your needs. You could mention that you have read about NCR in old posts and that you think that it might help. Since you already know that it is no longer working, you should mention that.

You might mention that the question used to close your question as a duplicate doesn't meet your needs. Explain why.

I'm not sure what would actually be purpose of that. But I would certainly not surprised if only the tags from the parent site can be used.

In this case, the parent site is Web Applications and not Web Applications Meta.

Still, it is interesting question what can be used as a tag on a chatroom and whether this is documented somewhere.

It seems that this feature request is asking exactly for this: Can we have meta tags for chatrooms?

If that question works for you, I'm glad about that. However, please remember that questions about using web applications like Google (Google Search) are off-topic in Super User. It might be closed at any time if the question suddenly is seen as too focused on a web app retired feature like NCR. The question is OK in Super User as it's focused on handling the browser settings.

But don't believe me... ask on the Super User main chatroom, or their moderation chatroom.
