Years ago there was a meta contest to come up with the best tai chi question. I think there was supposed to be some Stack Exchange swag as prize, but I'm not sure this actually happened, and I think swag has been discontinued.
I have found it very interesting how people use the site completely differently.
There are people who answer but do not ask.
There are people who vote and never post.
There are people who flag but neither post nor vote.
There are people who post, but infrequently vote.
I have also seen a moderator on another site who would award a bounty on a reasonably good answer for any user who collected a voting badge (I think civic duty, sportsmanship, or electorate).

{nods} I mainly vote and answer because I don't have that many questions (although I may be adding two at some point tonight, vaguely remembered kata that I suddenly realize I've forgotten their names).

I'm not trying to criticize. You have asked questions, which definitely helps create interesting content.
I have just been thinking about whether there are ways to get people to participate more, and I think that could be in questions, answers, and voting.
