@InbarRose Thanks! I like these ideas.
(I went to bed suddenly, because apparently I am ill.)

Idea I'm just throwing out: to emphasise the Serpents' use of fleshcrafting, one of their primary defences against invaders was a family of sea serpents they created.
The serpents starved after Serpentis fell and before the island was settled by elves; their bones are probably sold as tourist items when they wash up on the beaches.
I expect that Chief Hunter will raise a monster or two, or Zagreus will, or something.
Hmmm
Why do they have to have died out?
Maybe there are still some lurking around?
Could be!
But I was thinking that if any survived, the elves would have hunted them down and killed them.
Giant sea monsters have giant appetites, and without their masters to feed them, they'd attack elven ships until they got killed.
Well.....
Let's say that the Serpents bred these serpents... Maybe they bred them in that lake.. Maybe the lake has a sort of "loch ness" type serpent inside?
Still, what do they eat for 60-80 years?
It's a lake.
It has fish
or.. maybe the lizardfolk feed it.
Like.. one of their tasks was to feed these serpents. And they kept doing it.
It has become a ritualistic thing ?
09:33
Hmm.
Like . they don't know why they are doing it anymore - but if they don't do it they get punished.
You know the anecdote with the monkeys and the ladder?
Yes.
Good. Because I was about to share this with you: skeptics.stackexchange.com/questions/6828/…
> To evaluate this tale, the CDU turned to Dr. Claud Bramblett, an anthropology professor at the University of Texas in Austin, who's worked with hundreds of monkeys over the last 30 years. He puts it simply: "If you have bananas on a pole, you'll lose your bananas."

Yanno, the Loch Ness monster is amphibious.
@BESW ?
So.. you like the idea?
I kinda do. The logistics are a pain, but the end result is probably worth it.
Giant amphibious sea serpents.. That's awesome.
And it's an excuse to read Exotic Zoology again.
Instead of the lake - there could be a hidden underground cavern that has an underwater tunnel to the ocean
And that's where the serpents "live" or "nest"
10:10
Yup, that's on my mind.
I may take a few pages from Dinotopia: The World Beneath.

One reason I like the Loch Ness idea is that Trogdor likes dragons and anything dragon-like.
It's why there are lizardfolk--so he can be one.

So.. Anything else swirling around that needs some work? Or you think is a bit weak?
For instance - Knave Port - what kind of environment is there? A trading port, vibrant and colorful? Or more dark with thieves and smugglers? Are people feeling safe on the streets? Are there a lot of guards? Is it clean?

Knave Port is loud, crowded, and colourful: its unique relationship with the law means that there's no need for its thieves and smugglers to hide in dark alleys.
Basically, you can get away with almost anything but murder if you grease the right palms. Murder, however, is the jurisdiction of the Ruby Tower, and death is Serious Business for them.
