@soupless Of course if "x" is an unused variable, then it literally is not used to refer to anything, so it wouldn't make sense to say "If P(x):".
But what else did you try? If you at least have a partial proof idea, where you clearly indicate missing steps by "...", you can post that and I can give you hints based on your attempt.
