@Jasmine Thanks for your reply. But as far as I know, more resonating structures means more stability. This is slightly confusing me.
@Jasmine Sorry, I haven't learnt about that.
@YUSUFHASAN Hi. Could you please explain why ortho-substituted benzoic acids are stronger than un substituted benzoic acids. This is from Steric Inhibition of Resonance. Having a lot of trouble with that concept. Kindly reply when you find time.

@Intellex Sorry I had to prepare for a test. And I dont remember ...

8:38 AM
@Abcd U r doing chemistry in ur first term right? B.Tech starts from the 2nd..?
@Intellex Inherently not true

@YUSUFHASAN what do you mean by "first term"?
Everyone has common courses for 1st year.
BE branch from 2nd year for BE students.

@Abcd Acha oh yah...Forgot that XD
@Abcd So how is it going at BITS overall? Do u feel stressed with the work..Or is it cool?

@YUSUFHASAN it's cool. Not that stressful.

@Intellex More resonating structures means more stability iff the structures end up causing release of energy overall...What is means is that more unimportant a RS is, lesser it's contribution to energy release
In fact, it may end up eating up energy to make that hypothetical structure
@Abcd Cool, I was actually interested in participating in the BITSMUN
Any idea about date, committees,agendas etc.?
For example...A probable RS for benzene is just break one pi bond into plus and minus charges

@YUSUFHASAN No, sorry. I did receive many emails regarding that but I wasnt interested so deleted.

8:44 AM
But...It's contribution to resonance hybrid tends to zero

@YUSUFHASAN Can you answer my question please?

@Abcd Ohh...well can u collect info on that now and tell me here if possible?
@Abcd which question?

Yes

ok found it

No
Posting again.
Consider $d^2$ . Why is 3D term symbol forbidden? @YUSUFHASAN

8:47 AM
@Abcd didn't get the context...What 3d symbol?

@YUSUFHASAN Do you know about Russell Saunder's coupling?

@Abcd Sorry, this is a next semester topic... :/..However, if u want, u can post the entire question here and I can ask our prof(a QM expert)

I think JR got it now....He's telling. Anyway, thanks.
.

9:32 AM
@Abcd No problem :)
Thank you @YUSUFHASAN for clarifying my doubt :)
I will think over it and ask further if I have any doubts left.
