My goal would be that magic is, for lack of a better word, highly dangerous to mortals.

The way I was envisioning it was that, rather than build up magic and cast a spell

you decide what you want to do, and then the magic builds up and flows through you.

Which works fine for the small stuff, but if you want to do something crazy

like... raise a mountain, etc.

The amount of magic required asplodes you before you've gathered enough to perform that task.

So my goal was to make magic, for lack of a better term
