This is actually pretty cool.
Problems I see: Difficult for new people to join.
Mibbit is... very simple on that front. This requires logins and... whatever you did to make me talk

Yeah, but you can view the room without that stuff.
This chatroom will retain activity in a way (due to the transcript) that mibbit does not, and, I think, encourage folks to ask for permission (or, if they have SE accounts, simply hop in).
