@DamkerngT. I think it would be significantly easier to read with more punctuation

And Hi all!

@Man_From_India That may be the case, but even great writers can benefit from proofreading―it looks like this book is in need of some

Hello
Hi @snailboat...oh so you also think that sentence strange?
Anyway I couldn't wait any longer and asked the question in the main site...let me share it...
13:19
Too bad I have to go to the gym, so,....Hi and bye!
Hi @MARamezani
how was ur exam?
ok come back...see u
user116848
@MARamezani See you!
I came back yesterday.

Q: Parsing problem - "...as with Shah Jehan and Aurungzebe when Cambell was with Murad Baksh and Dara Shekoh..."

Man_From_IndiaI found the following sentence - But there are some grains of fact, as the men whom he mentions Robert smith, John White, Thomas Roach and William Gates are all mentioned by Manucci as with Shah Jehan and Aurungzebe when Cambell was with Murad Baksh and Dara Shekoh, Smith and Roach also appe...

@Man_From_India read my statements starting from, say, "Dramatic entrance".
I don't wanna talk about it!
:(
:)
13:22
long back I think I missed that :-(
ohh i see

1 hour later…
14:33
Hi !
Finally the exams ended :D
@Hanaa Congrats!

2 hours later…
16:42
Hello?
17:16
Hello?
Hello hello? (I think the double one works)
I'm feeling like the "last survivor" now.
Or "lone survivor".
Choose whichever you like.
I give myself the badge: "Alone".
Described as: "Be the only person in chat for half an hour."
18:20
@DamkerngT. Hi!
:D for what?
@MARamezani I hereby announce that you've received a new badge, Last Stand.
I wouldn't call it last stand.
You guys were chatting and I wasn't here.
I wasn't here earlier today.
18:27
"Stand" would give one the impression that I'm resisting to quit.
While I'm not!
I was busy too.
Solving our tax issues!
Oh, but you previous messages made me think so. :-)
@MARamezani Aww... Death and taxes, they say.
Haha, I got a notable question for drink/eat.
Nice! Congrats!
Thanks.
I have a notable question in chemistry too.
Fun fact: The questions I got a badge for,
I bet!
18:30
I thought were gonna get closed.
In an instant!\
I should ask more stupid questions, from now on. :)
I think you know how to get the points! :-)
Hello, @StoneyB!
Hi guys! What's cookin?
I wonder that myself! I just dropped in.
18:33
Btw, @DamkerngT. do you favor "popular science"?
Hello @StoneyB!
Nothing's cooking I suppose.
@MARamezani I do. I think it helps people understand sciences better.
Let's bring up a discussion.
@MARamezani Oh! You meant the proposal.
Somebody's proposing something? Or somebody's proposed to somebody?
Looks like that proposal (Popular Science) is a vent that lets non-advanced questions go somewhere, not just being closed.
Kinda like ELL and ELU in the beginning, I think.
18:36

Q: 'require from' vs 'require of'

Law Area 51 Proposal - Commit ODO: require something of = Regard an action, ability, or quality as due from (someone) by virtue of their position 'of' in phrasal verbs, still confuses me. 1. Which ODO definition applies? 2. What are the similarities and differences between 'require from' vs 'require of'? Please tell ...

@DamkerngT. I was just typing the same thing when that popped up!
Law always has wierd questions!
@StoneyB Hah!
@DamkerngT. yes.
Law always wants individual words to mean something.
18:37
Hmm... but it's an interesting question, I suppose?
@StoneyB nods -- A lot of our members seem to want that same thing.
@DamkerngT. That's the very reason that made me contribute to that one.
Though I won't let "popular science" to become something like ELL. ;)
Oh! Why not?! :-)
I "skipped" the close vote. I'm not sure if a learner will definitely be able to get this completely out of a dictionary. — MARamezani 2 hours ago
Should that question be closed, @StoneyB?
There are two actual questions. One is What does of mean here? But it's an idiom: of doesn't 'mean' anything. The other is What's the difference between require of and require from? The answer is 'none', and that's probably discoverable from a dictionary.
2
Should it be closed? Put it another way: can it be answered?

Q: What is a pod? Something like an apartment, maybe?

Cookie MonsterExample: Have you ever considered how fortunate you are? You got a good job. You live in a great pod. You have health insurance that allows you and Rachel to have a beautiful baby girl. What do you think it is?

I have three reasons it could be "a small flock of birds.": 1. It exists in a dictionary! 2. It could be followed by a sentence that supports it (as it's a way of writing) and, the meaning of the latter sentence implies that so. 3. It could be simile. It would be nice if you quoted the source. — MARamezani 33 mins ago
Could I be right?!
That comment came out of nowhere! :)
For all that matters, that's just another example of J.R.'s "details, please!" scenario, IMO.
Btw, do you see merit in following that proposal, @DamkerngT.?
What happened?
Am I going to earn another "alone" badge?
19:02
@MARamezani I have followed a few proposals which I didn't really engage in. So, even though there's no harm following any proposals, I'd recommend following only proposals that are really meaningful for you.
Depends on the meaning "meaningful" has.
(Sorry that I went away. Having a problem with some other websites.)
If "popular science" succeeds, it could actually be "the good side of SE".
Hopefully.
@DamkerngT. You didn't let me earn a second "alone". :( :)
19:05
You already got one, I think. ;-)
I still could be a particularly "chemistry" answerer there.
One should be enough.
Ah, yes. I remember that some questions are rather chemistry-oriented.
For example, "can Lithium polymer batteries explode?".
You can actually earn a "good question" with that one.
Hehe!
On Chemistry.SE, I think.
Nah.
In chemistry, we are very good to a new user.
19:09
Being nice is nice!
A new user gets five votes sooner than I get two in two months.
But, (MWAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA)
As soon as you pass 11 rep, we'll close everything you ask!
Especially as "Homework".
19:10
That sounds like a trap!
This is what I tell anyone with that stats.
> This is a homework question. We have a policy which states that ‎you should show your thoughts and\or efforts into solving the problem. It'll make us certain that ‎we aren't doing your homework for you. Otherwise, this question may get closed.‎
I'll say almost all of the questions are homework,
If you look "deep" enough. :)
Oh! I wish people would ask more "practical" questions on Chem.SE.
I did, if you call it that.
I asked "why is methanol toxic?"
Though that's more theory than practice.
And @#$%*&*! Nothing else. :)
Or, let me take a look.

Q: Radon gas in earthquake prediction - Why Rn?

MARamezaniI recently studied an article about predicting earthquakes and how correctly realizing that an increase in $\ce{Rn}$ gas is a sign for the earthquake saved a whole city. The following is derived from the wikipedia page for earthquake prediction: There are reports of spikes in the concentratio...

Does that count?
What about this one?

Q: Inventor of CRT?

MARamezaniLet's cut to the chase. I've been researching through numerous, reliable and unreliable, resources. According to the CRT official site and wiki, the first CRT( cathode ray tube) was invented by Carl Ferdinand Braun, year 1897. Yet undeniable proofs of CRTs being used in experiments in 1860s have ...

19:16
Wait, CRT on Chem.SE?
Why not?
Dunno. I think it should be on an electronics stack or something.
CRT was the main equipment that Thomson used in his experiments for publishing his theory.
Ahh... I remember his experiment in the context of physics.
You can't say this one isn't practical:

Q: Why is it obligatory to cool down the container of a sample to measure its mass in a lab?

MARamezaniWe were doing an experiment about hydrated crystals and more precisely how to determine $n$ in $\ce{CuSO4.nH2O}$. After we heated the crucible we were to cool it down using a Desiccator. Then this question came to my mind: Why must we cool it down? By doing researches in the Net I were only able ...

19:19
nods
Thomson's theory was a big big contribution to our understanding of atom.
Right!
As he was the first to say that "there are both negative and positive charges in atom."
Maybe I asked more "every-day" and practical questions than I thought.

Q: Is table salt sticking to my laptop?

MARamezaniI was reviewing first posts here, and eating a juicy and salty (table salt) tomato at the same time. Suddenly, I realized that a few table salt crystals have been poured down on my mousepad. I got curious and I rotated the laptop $90°$. I witnessed that the salt is somehow resisting to fall! No...

This is also interesting:

Q: What compounds exist in the bitter peel of specific fruits?

MARamezaniActually, my original question was: What makes a pith of pomegranate so bitter? Then I decided to be more generic. You'll hardly find someone that consumes pomegranate and doesn't nag about the bitter taste the white pith has! Additionally, when I was a kid, my parents taught me not to eat the bi...

I remembered that @Majid once said that I use a thousand tags in my Qs!
Hah.
@MARamezani Small dust and particles (for laymen, not physicists or chemists) are quite persistent in our electronic devices!
What's the difference between "biochemistry" and "chemical-biology"?
Fun fact: I once wrote an olympiad question.
19:24
Oh, you mean they used your question?
It was almost closed as "unclear".
Nah, I wanted to make sure I had the answer right.
It got -2!
The only question of mine that actually has a minus score.
Aww... What was the close reason?
Ah, you already said unclear.
It didn't get closed, though.
I have never had closed questions!
That's quite a record, I guess!
Oh, I do have another minus score question.
Guess where!
Yes!
Meta, to be exact.
Where did you go @DamkerngT.?
19:34
Doing my stuff.
Ah.
Are you busy on the Net, or is it house chores?
Whatever I do on the web is usually related to my work one way or another. So!
I guess that you aren't in a class at the moment. :-)
It's hard to tell for me anyway. People nowadays are really, really good at multitasking!
You can make sure that I'm not!
We usually aren't allowed to take PCs and laptops to the class.
What about phones?
We still aren't, but we do it anyway. :)
It feels like a prison if you ask me!
19:40
@MARamezani Actually, I think that's weird. I mean, notebooks would be very useful in class. (If used properly)
lol
The problem is, our government believes that everyone will misuse them.
But, Iranians are wierd. They have a double misuse ratio!
Quick! Delete that message before your government finds out about it.
:P
There are no problems if they find out what I believe.
Only, five years of jail. :)
IMO, there are no such things as freedom, in the world's current state. (I mean, the correct definition of freedom)
19:47
It's free enough, in most parts, I think.
I mean, it could be much worse.
Freedom is well-misinterpreted in many countries.
It's just a tool that comes handy for the politicians all the time.
I should become a member of politics.SE!
Or a philosophy stack!
:P
Btw, have you taken a look at the questions and answers in politics.SE?
I'm starting to become curious.
Nope.
Oh, yeah?
Give me a minute or two.
I'm gonna find out.
Pffffff.
20:01
:D
They were about pathetic issues.
Not real ones.
Don't you agree that there are much more important issues in the politic world than "what is left and what is right"?
And they talk about "legal"!
What do they define "legal" to be?!

Q: Question about meaning of "nature" in this sentence

user5036 Given the abberant nature of the data, we came to doubt the vslidity of entire expriment. Could you simplify the word nature here.

What's the question supposed to be?
Never mind that.
I just edited it for it to be meaningful.
@MARamezani Related to law?
What is law, then?
Something everyone is supposed to know. :-)
20:16
The point is, laws are set by governments, to be followed by governments.
One of the laws, I think perhaps in any country, is that you can't claim that you don't know the laws.
See the contradiction here?
@MARamezani I think most people would say by people rather than by the government.
Iirc, the government serves the people and acts on the behalf of the people.
Damkerng let's not be historical! :)
@DamkerngT. That's not true out of the history class!
No, I mean that's the general idea.
20:20
A superpower can violate any rule.
That's the reality, not the theory.
My point exactly!
People will generally move toward their ideal anyway, sooner or later.
(I'm not saying that we already have anything ideal anywhere in any part of the world, though. :-)
20:21
What you said is half of islam.
@MARamezani I'm not sure I can follow you.
(follow as in understand, but you would already know that)
Islam believes that one day, humans will be "mature" enough to decide their fate for themselves.
Ahh
Makes sense.
In fact, most of the religions believe in "a hero that revolutionizes the dooms day humans have created for themselves."
What is your religion, btw? Are you christian?
Maybe. I don't know much about other religions.
I'm buddhist.
20:25
Ah, stupid (am I). Of course you are.
Not all Thais are buddhist, though most of us are.
I think I read somewhere that christians are few in Thailand.
I don't have much idea about buddhists believing in a savior, though. Do you [believe in one]?
Probably true. But there are enough of people in other religions here.
@MARamezani Hmm... It might help if you think of Buddhism as atheism.
Not that related, IMO.
And our lives are mostly about our own karma, more or less.
20:30
Atheists are different from buddhists, in many ways!
Atheists are usually materialists.
They usually believe in nothing but their profit.
Atheists was I think rather well-defined, but English is now a common language, it could be imprecise.
Hmm... I've never thought of atheism that way.
That's why I think that doesn't call as a "religion".
They just (generally) think that there is no god.
20:32
That's the concept,
which is given rise by materialism, mainly.
About that, I have no idea.
And Buddhism doesn't really deny the existence of god.
It's close to atheism in that in Buddhism whether god exists or not is not the issue. (Sorry if this sounds offensive for people in other religions.)
No offence.
I sense.
I get offended when someone draws a cartoon of my prophet, and calls it "freedom of speech".
Aww... That's not nice.
(Calling that "not nice" is actually too nice for them.)
20:38
Anyways, what's your opinion about ISIS?
Ah, I've heard a lot of debates on ISIS on C-SPAN channels.
Frankly, I don't know what to think in the end!
I wonder what an "outsider" thinks about them. (no offence)
I consider you as "world".
If you get what I mean.
None taken.
What do you think I think about them?
Hi @Alex!
Hi
20:40
Between for and against, I guess you think the first.
Exactly the opposite!
I could be wrong. Ah, I was wrong!
I knew people would think that way! :(
I do not believe anything.
Hello @Alex!
20:42
Why not?:)
Welcome to the chat room!
tnx
why I have to believe a thing that I can not see it?
Ah, seeing is believing, you say!
I like your perspective!
20:44
totally I try my mind to solve my problems and find my path in my life.
nods -- That's very practical.
yse
yes
but it's an idea
Oh, but being too much indifferent about the outside world isn't possible.
who's care?
my life is mine
I do.
Because ISIS kills people as a "sign" of islam.
Oh, I meant I care about your beliefs.
20:46
yes, but god or prophets can not solve it
I mean people can do it not god or something like that.
then believing to god is not important
Or, people can be made to believe something.
@Alex Ah, I don't want to get in the debate of "god exists or not?".
no, I did not think so
I thought you talk about god or religion.
I wish I could add something, but it seems like I have nothing to add. :-)
@Alex Do you too think that I (as a Muslim) am fond of what ISIS is about?
@DamkerngT. You have no idea how much I like you to know that
I'm listening.
20:52
ISIS are never Muslims, and never are going to be.
They are brutal, nonhuman terrorists.
I think you're from iran. maybe you or other like you do not have any fond about it, but Iran maybe!\
This is what that I'm sure at least 98 percent of shiaat (if not all the muslims) completely agree with.
Iran want to keep its effects in MD then ISIS can help Iran in different ways
@Alex FYI, Iran is the country that helped Syria fight those bloody "Muslim-like" people.
The reason that it didn't cooperate with US was US's other intentions of stopping ISIS.
How can ISIS help Iran?
@DamkerngT. Why are you silent?!
20:58
Yes, but if iran helped Asad in syria at first, ISIS does not exist now
Considering the amount of tasks at hands right now, I'd better refrain from delicate matters. ;-)
Hmm. What's the relationship between ISIS and Asad?
ISIS wanted to bring Asad down.
I mean, I don't want to say anything wrong unintentionally. (And you know how often I make my typos.)
