Yes John Rennie had explained it to me earlier
But thats clean gone out of my mind
THe biggest problem is that I can't see pulley anywhere
@ACuriousMind Are you around?
user223506
dang i am answer-chatty today!
user223506
12:28
hello @Loong
@Doc hi
user223506
how you be?
user223506
lol
user223506
sometimes I wonder..
user223506
12:34
+1 for explanation. Thanks. But i am looking for more detials. — John Sr 3 mins ago
user223506
i wonder if that user just wants all his homework done for him
Why would any1 want to do that.
user223506
laziness
Asking help i understand, but asking an answer and not
learning anything from it makes no sense. And will never
be useful.
And yes I am not here to get my homework done !
user223506
12:48
@LuBu i agree wholeheartedly
user223506
@Abcd you're fine - my comments are in reference to answer i just wrote
Okay @Doc
user223506
my answer may help others

A: Differentiate b/w scalar and vector in Newtonian mechanics

DocYour definitions of scalars and vectors are fine. In specific answer to your questions: and 3, are related, so I'll address them first: $$speed = \frac{distance}{time}$$ and $$velocity = \frac{diplacement}{time}$$ Where distance is a scalar quantity that refers to "how much ground ...

user223506
13:59
hey @SirCumference I think i got help-vampire-d
@Doc That sucks
No pun intended
@BernardoMeurer I am now
user223506
lol
user223506
i got an upvote out of it at least
user223506
hullo @ACuriousMind
14:04
Hey @Doc
user223506
@ACuriousMind what's new?
not much
Sigh...I just handled some flags and after reloading there was the same number of new flags. I guess it's one of those days...
user223506
oh joy!
user223506
there's nothing wrong with my answer here physics.stackexchange.com/a/303509/140434 is there?

Q: "user removed": who was removed? And what is the -2 due to?

MickGI just saw this in my rep tab: The screenshot was taken on Saturday, January the 7th, around 15:03 in the Italian time zone, that is GMT+1, just before asking this. I was wondering: What user was removed to cause this? Why were they removed? And what exactly was the -2 due to? I don't mi...

14:13
@Doc Not except for the ugly TeX I just fixed ;)
user223506
@ACuriousMind the acceleration equation is weird...
Heh, I typed frac instead of text there, fixed
user223506
lol
user223506
well, i learnt something new!
user223506
and i was definitely help-vampire'd by that user...lol
14:32
@ACuriousMind Go on Skype
I need your opinion on something
15:05
@ACuriousMind Dood
user228700
@JohnR: Will u please do me a favour? Between now and May 21st, if I start talking (in your presence, of course) about food/music or anything apart from Physics, Math or Chemistry, really, will u please ignore me completely? Will u please ignore any attempt at making conversation about anything other than aforementioned subjects? I have realised that my inner monkey waitbutwhy.com/2013/10/why-procrastinators-procrastinate.html) is running rampant.
@BernardoMeurer I was on the phone :P I don't have Skype installed on this laptop, can you not ask me here?
@ACuriousMind Meh, I'd rather not :P
Do you have telegram?
Are you a cool kid?
@BernardoMeurer Guess I'm installing Skype then, this better be good ;)
15:20
@ACuriousMind It's important but I would not say it's good :P
Sigh...please wait till I have reset my Skype password for the umpteenth time :)
user228700
(@JohnR: P.S: Do not factor into this request the fact that I may be stressed. Only if I restrict myself so am I going to get my sh*t together)
r u stressed
@ACuriousMind Lol, you can never remember that damn password
user228700
@Kenshin Well, I dunno. What dyou think, based on what you know about me? :-) Also, hey.
15:22
That's because I use Skype once in a blue moon!
@ACuriousMind Pff, Stallmanite
this is 2017 tho, ppl shdnt be stressed
user228700
@Kenshin Is that the new rule? Source? (:-P)
user228700
@Ken: Still on holiday, BTW? Haven't seen u around in awhile.
i'm the only source ppl shud need
15:25
wtf
sigh
user228700
@Kenshin Lol, okay.
I reset the wrong account :D
which one?
Why on earth do I have two Skype account I never use?
John Rennies?
@ACuriousMind first world problems
user228700
15:26
^
user228700
:-P
Jesus lord
lol @ACuriousMind you're an AI or did your databanks get wiped or something?
@BernardoMeurer I am online in the correct one now, no need
15:28
@Kaumudi.H no i'm not on holiday sanymore
but i play computer games now
On the plus side, I did remember the password for the newer account
user228700
@Kenshin OK. Is one of ur resolutions "Don't spend so much time on PSE", then? :-P Also, I just realised. U're still up?! Isn't it like...2 AM over there?
yeah I got distracted on the game
no coming on here isn't a resolution
i mean not coming on her e ins't a resolution
user228700
@Kenshin Oh, okay. Have fun :-)
but i stopped playing the game
that's why i'm bac here
user228700
15:29
Ah, I see.
user228700
Dood, I had tiramisu and everything, did u see? :-P

user228700
I even uploaded a picture!

user228700
Thought u might read the transcript :-.

i only read if i'm pinged
user228700
oh that looks yum
user228700
Indeed it was :-D

I see that's too close to the laptop
user228700
Lunch. What dyou mean "why did u have that for?!
user228700
15:32
@Kenshin Yeah, I was hoping no one would notice that :-P

Q: Prove that the coefficient of friction has to be $ μ >3/2\frac {sin \theta}{1+3sin^2 \theta}$ for pure rolling of an inclined rod

Harsha G.A rod of mass $M$, and length $L$ is kept at an angle $\theta$ on a surface (at rest), and then released. Prove that the coefficient of friction has to be $ μ >3/2 \frac {sin \theta}{1+3sin^2 \theta}$ The condition is that there is no slipping, and only pure rolling.

i wondered y u got that and posted a photo?
^ Please help
just a random desrt u ate?
Is this chat not meant for science stuff?
15:33
@HarshaG. no this is a bar, the h bar
@Ken
I'll leaven then
user228700
@HarshaG. Yes, it is :-) Although we don't always restrict ourselves to physics. If anybody is interested to help you with your query, they will reply. (Also, @Ken was kidding)
@HarshaG. fine then
was i :p
wow my comment was deleted?
user228700
@Kenshin Oh, no, I actually asked for help to choose what to order so then I had to post a picture.
I said "fine then" and it's gone wth
ahh i see
good choice
15:35
No, it's still there Ken
user228700
@Kenshin Dude, it's right there!
@HarshaG. This is the general chat for physics.SE, you can certainly ask physics questions here
oh yeah
someone must have put it back :p
user228700
Also, @Ken: I feel like nobody around here gets ur humour. They get offended way too quickly :-P This has happened like, way too many times.
lol they're not aussie enough
but then again americans have a good sense of humour too electing Trump
user228700
15:37
Also, the "Don't encourage conversation about other crap" request goes for u as well, @Ken :-P Starting tomorrow.
aww k
@Kaumudi.H Can you answer that question? It's for JEE homework...
I assume you are Indian?
@HarshaG. for homework go to physics.qandaexchange.com
@HarshaG. However, we consider barging in and posting your newly posted question also here without any context as to why we should find it interesting a bit rude
@HarshaG. please don't assume people's country in this chat
15:38
:(
oh don't be sad, you can
user228700
@Kenshin DUDE. Chill. (Or, well, at least realise people don't get ur humor. I just said that :-P)
lol
soz
user228700
@HarshaG. Yes, I am but I'm not an expert in RBM yet. Sorry.
It's okay. Also @Kenshin, I am not offended. Don't worry/
user228700
15:40
Lol, Kenshin doesn't worry x'D
@HarshaG. but seriously your question is more on topic on physics.qandaexchange.com and will probably be closed on stack exchange
user228700
@Harsha: ^ Yep.
I'll try it there then
look at that, cloesd already
by this guy, @ACuriousMind
user228700
My only prayer is that someday, @Ken: U don't offend someone so much that you get suspended or whatever. Just. Please. I like you, so don't like get yourself suspended or whatever :-P
15:42
yeah I'll try not
I think I know the line and try to stay inside it
user228700
:-D Okay.
I doubt that
I said nothing
user228700
@Kenshin Thasright :-P
user228700
15:44
Wokay, gots to go. @Ken: Remember the request!! Night!
u know i'm Einstein there right
ok goodnight @Kaumudi.H
user228700
@Kenshin Well, I know now.
cool
@Kaumudi.H alternatively u can always use the "feedback" form on the bottom of the site
laterz all
Is the formatting on physics.qandaexchange.com same as on stackexchange? @Kenshin
15:47
Cool
sometimes u may need to place a \ sign before any _ when using mathjax
@HarshaG. I've updated the formatting: physics.qandaexchange.com/?qa=879/…
@Kenshin I love you
I mean thanks
ty
Can you also pls edit the post show ur working so far if u get time
because this is generally the policy (although more leniant on new users/first posts)
@Kaumudi.H I don't think procrastination can be helped.
If i am not able to concentrate on something for
some reason, i think i cannot force myself to
concentrate on it and i just end up staring at the text
and into the void.
But idk, it might be different for ppl at the university
level, if they have tight schedules.
@Kenshin Can I put up a picture, or do I have to type the mess?
15:53
a picture of your working?
if the picture is neat, that can be done
you will need to upload the image to imgr or something
because you can only upload images if there is an existing link
to that image
@Kenshin If it's not neat, please remove it.
ok
@HarshaG. your edit has been approved
hopefully it will be answered soon
I gtg to bed now and if not answered i'll take a look when i awake
laterz all
Does my working make any sense at all?
it's neat, but it's 2AM so I can't really check it
Well thanks for your help Kenshin
16:04
np bye
Good Night :)

5 hours later…
20:55
Have folks seen this?
Not sure if it's the same person as before, but it's definitely interesting.
21:20
@EmilioPisanty HOLY CRAP
@JohnRennie Could you please answer this physics.stackexchange.com/q/264128/113699 question of mine. I have been still very unclear regarding the answer but I hope to get it clear
21:58
@Shashaank In classical mechanics an inertial frame is well-defined only in the immediate neighborhood of a body. There is no fixed rule for selecting a frame as inertial. What matters is the relative acceleration and relative velocities of frames.
You can select any frame as inertial and write the equations of motion of a body. They fundamentally remain the same.

Q: What is the best way to draw out a physics question for this website?

Joebasqueo Sometimes I'll have questions that I can't describe well in words, and I was wondering if there were any recommendations for how to draw it out, such as a free download to draw with or something.
