@ChrisWhite If you use glass of porcelain white boards always erase. But if you spend that much your not coming out ahead of quality blackboards on price.
I've used real slate boards, and I'll take them. But I can't tolerate cheap blackboards. Slate or porcelain or nothing.
My current place uses whiteboards and I'm OK with that: they also provide markers, so I can grab some fresh ones from the supply cabinet whenever one of mine runs dry (I keep 2 of every color in my marker mug.

My "poor man's proof" would be to calculate the curvature of $\phi^*g$ and then compare that to the pullback of $g$'s curvature.
@ACuriousMind OK, so if the diffeomorphism changes coordinates from $x$ to $y$, one would calculate the curvature of $g_{\mu\nu}'(y)$ and of $g_{\mu\nu}(x)$, then transform the $g_{\mu\nu}(x)$ curvature to $y$ coordinates?
Perhaps my left-hand fingers are more agile because I am left-handed, but I have no problem at all hitting either capslock, shift or ctrl with my pinky
@0celo7 Map ctrl to caps lock then, it's not like you need caps lock for anything. Or learn how to press ctrl with your palm. Learn emacs and you'll get used to chording. Get one of those ergonomic keyboards where you can hit ctrl with your thumbs.

@0celo7: I bought a regular K70 years ago, for about $100. I got a free upgrade to a K70 RGB, which is more expensive. As for mouses, that's really up to your preference. I've been a long time fan of my G700, but I'd try something else (non-Logitech, probably Corsair) out if this one breaks anytime soon.
@0celo7: I believe Corsair also just released a new keyboard, with mechanical but "silent" keys, I don't know how silent they are but I would consider that, because my girlfriend always complains about the loudness of my mechanical keys now.
@alarge: I didn't read what they use for the new mechanical keyboard, but I think it's different ones, because they were still called reds, and reds are usually very loud.
@alarge: Maybe it's some custom produces keys which feel like reds but don't make as loud sounds.
@0celo7: The scrolling wheel of this type has been copied now by many keyboard manifacturers - although I'm sure people before Corsair already did this too.
@0celo7 Try finding a shop and go try them there. But surely you've noticed that the Apple keyboard you have is, like any laptop-y, keyboard, horrible for typing.
@0celo7 Well if you don't touch type, doesn't really matter what you get. For gaming a mechanical keyboard may be a bit faster, but you'd only care if you played at a pro level.
@0celo7: I think if you'll go with the Logitech, you won't be disappointed either. I just don't like the design and I think all Corsair products I've used so far feel more premium.

Like I said, the lack of a USB port for my mouse is a deal breaker. I don't want to have to get out my wireless keyboard every time I need to use a USB stick.
if I had a wireless mouse for school work, that would be fine. But as it stands my wireless mouse's insides are covered in battery corrosion.
